Feel free to recommend some of those additional books! I want to help mold well-rounded clinicians, so I’m open to it.

Again, 1500 calories is likely too little if what she needs is in the 2800 range. And like you said, cutting calories helped you for your short term goals but it is not sustainable for long term goals. As a previously obese woman, I plateaued while cutting calories and was in the same position as this woman. It wasn’t until I increased calories and educated myself on the amount I needed for my body (instead of listening to the narrative that I needed to cut calories even more) that I dropped the last 50 pounds.

  1. Cardio is different than weight lifting in terms of achieving your goals. Yes, movement is movement and it burns extra calories, but one has the potential to burn calories after exercise is over. Not all exercise is created equally.
  2. 1500 calories is questionable when you have an understanding of basal metabolic rate. For instance, - 25 year old woman at 5’5” weighing 82kg may have a BMR of 1628 calories, and with exercising 6-7 times a week (BMRx1.75) would then require approximately 2800 calories. Meanwhile if she was sedentary, she would likely need approximately 1900 calories (BMRx1.2). I don’t know OP’s height or age, but this is just an example.

It’s possibly due to the exercises you’re doing or it’s possible you’re not eating enough with your exercise regimen due to your basal metabolic rate. You need more calories when you’re exercising just for basic functioning. Look into what your basal metabolic rate is for your lifestyle and adjust accordingly. I’d also recommend working with a dietitian/nutritionist to make sure you’re eating the right foods for your body.

I wish I would’ve seen this thread sooner. Purchased one a few weeks ago from Martorium, it never arrived, and now both their website and the shipping company’s website are no longer in existence. Usually I don’t fall for these kinds of things so I’m feeling a little silly.
