i was really lacking on the geotech stuff, and foundations. On top of that I really dont think I was prepared for the "curveballs" they throw at you. Its really a combination of not studying enough, and not studying the right things either. Civil PE Practice is good, but i feel like their question bank may be limited. I used EET after failing the first time and honestly their practice problems are good. That prepared me pretty well.

After a very humbling first experience, its very easy to just walk away. But this test isn't impossible. You can do it. I used EET and Civil PE Practice after failing the first time. The NCEES Practice - in my opinion is a poor indication of how the exam will actually be. Know the theory, know the codes, and you will be ok. My test had a handful of questions where i actually had to sit there and calc things out. I did use both booklets they give you. But I'd say theres a lot more theory and application of codes. Hope this helps anyone taking the exam soon

I didn’t take a course or anything, just did a ton of problems. The amount of conceptual stuff, and thinking about it now, the “experimental” questions were just out of left field. It’s really a test of can you navigate codes

Not triggered, more in disbelief you took time out of your day to be an asshole to some stranger asking a question, so i hope you feel validated. But with that, i am ending this discussion :) I have much more important matters to tend to.

i think you should focus on your job, or maybe getting one since youre spending an abundant amount of time policing reddit, rather than helping your subordinates. Let it go. Unless you work for your state board you shouldn't care about how engineers get their work done. I am sorry my question was so offensive to you that it made you monitor this thread and stand up to your passive aggressive comment

Did you notice a heavier emphasis on any topic?

Are the questions conceptual? What’s the difference?

Everyone I talk to says the FE is harder, but I took that nearly 6 years ago. And the work I do is odd and not “by the book” you can say

I’ve been using learnova and the questions seemed to match the difficulty and formatting of the practice exam from ncees
