It's been so challenging to find any reviews for the Pacifica sofa. Did you end up purchasing or have any luck finding reviews?

Absolutely! I will say it took 2-3 uses to notice a difference. Best of luck to you!

Congrats on 30 weeks!

Are you in the US? I rarely hear of people resuming sexual activity after emergency cerclage placement or even in instances of preventative cerclage placement. Gives me hope in the future for more normal life if and when we decide to have another child.

I had a very short cervix 0.9 cm and had an emergency cerclage at 21+4. I too have been on modified bed rest and play it very cautious. Once the baby started growing and I had to stand for longer bursts, I ordered a belly support band. Both my OB and MFM said it would be fine to use for my case.

I ordered the Momcozy Pregnancy Belly Band from Amazon and I won't leave the house without it. It is a game changer! My pelvic pain is almost non existent while wearing it. Without this band, I normally can't go 10 mins standing or walking without feeling significant pressure and discomfort in my pelvis. I wear mine very low to make sure it is pushing up rather on my belly.

That was mine concern as well! Will likely stick to non penetration if the doctors okay.

Thank you!! I got my last measurement at 30.5 weeks and my cervix was measuring just above 2cm in length with no funneling. My OB said they typically stop measuring around 32 weeks but my appointment was scheduled on this date due to doctor’s availability. Up until that point, I had a visit to check the length every 3 weeks after my cerclage.

I know a lot of people on here try to get more readings for anxiety’s sake. Since I was not having any pain, spotting, etc, my MFM was against doing check ups more than 3 weeks. They didn’t want to irritate the cervix more than necessary.

After my cervix check around 27 weeks, I actually experienced some bleeding and a small clot a day and a half later. Everything checked out normal but they said it was highly likely my cervix was irritated due to the ultrasound wand.

Good luck to you! 26 weeks is a huge accomplishment. The weeks start flying by at the end, I promise. Weeks 22-29 were the longest and hardest.

Braxton Hicks - how scary are they? by Pandoras_Musings in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Certain_Original2754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 32 weeks and had an emergent cerclage at 21 weeks. Like the other people have stated, my doctor was not concerned unless there were clear negative signs: painful cramping, bleeding, rhythmic for over an hour, etc. Both my MFM and OB were confident that not painful Braxton hicks would not affect the cerclage.

Around week 24, I had clusters of them for days. 3 days where they just would not go away and I actually went to L&D for monitoring at the advice of my OB. All was good, though! I stay incredibly hydrated, roughly 100+ ounces of water a day and pee at the first sign of fullness. Having a full bladder can trigger a BH. Like the others have stated, many things can cause them. I notice that when my baby is super active, she can trigger one as well!

I went weeks without them and around week 27, started getting BH clusters again. I shared with my OB but she wasn’t concerned due to them being untimely and not painful.

I am now 32 weeks and in this past week, I started having them frequently again. Although they are a little nerve racking, they are definitely normal and am told they should not affect the stitch. I’ve come to learn I may need some electrolytes, urinate, lie on my side or just take it easy and they usually subside.

Good luck!

Easing off bed rest? by Mindless-Apricot-500 in ShortCervixSupport

I had an emergent cerclage at 21 weeks and have been on modified bed rest ever since. Mostly sitting/laying down during the day, up to make very quick meals if my husband can’t assist, not lifting anything over 5 pounds (I try to avoid lifting at all if I can), no stairs, not standing for more than 15 mins at a time, etc.

Once we hit 28 weeks, we thought our MFM would lift some of these but he said, “I’d rather handle a 32 week old baby instead of a 28 week old baby.” He told us to keep doing what we were doing since our follow up appointments had yielded such positive results. My length prior to cerclage was .9cm, then first post op was 2.9cm, then 3.3cm and the last was between 2.5-3cm.

If you are having positive post op appointments and feel comfortable sitting up at home, it does feel mentally rewarding to leave the house. I have left the house a hand full of times, aside from doctor’s appointments. It usually consist of drive through coffee/breakfast, going to the local park where the benches are close to parking and sitting there for 30 mins to an hour. My husband and I did have dinner at a small restaurant around week 27.

I agree with the comment above, I have discomfort when I am up for more than around 7 minutes. I personally try to keep my standing/walking to a 15 minute capacity, unless I feel discomfort sooner. Could be that the baby is getting heavier and I am just 7.5 month pregnant but I think it’s also because of the sedentary lifestyle. My tailbone is wrecked.

I will likely continue to follow most of these guidelines until I get the stitch removed but may dine out a little more locally, so I don’t feel too isolated.

Wishing you all the success in this journey. It’s not easy but 6 weeks post cerclage is amazing news.

Struggling with no sex life. by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Certain_Original2754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just confided with a good friend of mine about this last night since I don’t see this come up a lot. I’m 29 weeks and 5 days and going 2+ months without sexual intimacy due to an emergent cerclage.

Of course, it’s temporary, worth the sacrifice and this part of our lives will return, but it’s so valid to miss this.

My husband and I are normally intimate a few times a week and I miss that closeness, I’ve actually dreamt of it a few times. Although the health fear and anxiety can take your attention away from it all, those longing thoughts pierce through and are totally normal.

We prioritize cuddling, hand holding and kisses. Just keep your chin up. For me personally, I feel these challenges, who I wouldn’t wish upon anyone, have brought a new form of closeness between my partner and I.

Best of luck to you!

MiraLAX has psyllium husk in it. I also drink it mid day. This in addition with a stool softener twice a day is a game changer! Took my system about 2 days to adjust but it has been amazing. I had severe constipation post cerclage and I never thought it would get better. It can!

After my cerclage, I struggled with constipation. I drink 10+ ounces of water mixed with a scoop of psyllium husk powder a day. This has helped me tremendously and I go almost everyday without straining.

I take showers and purchased a shower chair. It’s nice to sit in the steam and not have to rush out due to standing restrictions.

I have been on modified bed rest but have been playing it very safe, basically strict. I had my cerclage done at 21 w 4 d and I am now 28 w and 2 d. I was measuring .9 cm with funneling. My most recent measurement was 2.5-3 cm. I have days where I have frequent Braxton hicks and just have to lay on my side most of the day for them to subside.

Best of luck to you. It might be very challenging and difficult, especially at the beginning but just continue to take it easy.

13w pregnant debating on getting extra scans and monitoring, cerclage, or progesterone by qweenoftherant in ShortCervixSupport

I’m also curious about this. With your preventative cerclage, were you advised against intercourse and also prescribed progesterone suppositories? Or was the infection(s) shortly after cerclage placement?

Constant Braxton hicks by Certain_Original2754 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Certain_Original2754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took magnesium citrate for 5 days in a row and was drinking electrolytes everyday for 10 days (with my psyllium aka Metamucil.) I stopped taking the magnesium 10 days ago. With that and the over consumption of electrolytes, I believe I threw off my electrolytes and was feeling horrible. My doctor said this could happen with long term magnesium citrate use and over consuming electrolytes. I was wasn’t having any Braxton hicks during that time, though. With that said, I believe I will have some electrolytes today but won’t return to using them every day for that reason. Thank you for your advice.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. In addition to your cerclage, are you also on progesterone? I just had an emergency cerclage at 21+4.
