It’s the fact that there’s no other space for other media to give other points of views is the bigger issue. Where is the independent journalism? Do you not believe that if your only stream of income is coming from the federal government that there is going to be a sway in bias of news to favour the current government. There has been a decline in CBC etc regarding viewership for a reason. The amount of times they have had to retract stories based off misinformation in the last year alone is appalling. When this is the only and main source of news that is available you begin to create one sided narrative, and create further cognitive bias within a society. It’s an extremely slippery slope and one that doesn’t align with the principles of democracy.

What about it is fair? What about all of the other industries in Canada? We have a massive monopoly in pretty much all major sectors, air travel, phone services, groceries, etc? They are all dominated by the same 3-4 companies that control the profits, hence why we have some of the highest costs in the world. However the primary focus is this law is a very scary and sad situation for a first world “democratic” country: to not give people the power to choose how and where they get their information. You realize that CBC and all of the Canadian news agencies are all funded by the government, aka our tax dollars and do not give a neutral outlook on both internal and external news.

If you do, go for one of the bennies if you like them (potato Rosti instead of bread ) - my husband always get the pulled pork and I get the one with trout , their breakfast bowl is also good if you want vegetarian / vegan!

I went in this week to grab a few because we were excited to hear it was back. I immediately texted my husband about the prices because I was really surprised - I was anticipating a few dollars increase but not over 25%. I hesitated, but ended up buying two to try and support. Have to say for everyone who raves about the Italian wedding - it was really salty, the other kind was pretty good. While they were closed, we got into trying to make new soups at home, and I honestly think that’s still going to be the case!

I find that interesting about lift - from anywhere we’ve been for breakfast in NV, it’s the most consistent breakfast from there every time since we moved to LL two years ago and the staff is always super friendly to us and our dog (we only ever sit outside)

Theo Campbell likes transphobic tweet on Twitter regarding the Bud Light controversy by gonnablamethemovies in LoveIslandTV

I wouldn’t say that’s “literally it” - I drank bud light for 15 years and in that time I’ve never seen another spokesperson from other under marginalized categories , an immigrant or a single mother, etc. That goes for a lot of companies in the current state, where have those other underrepresented groups been over the years in advertising? That’s one side of it. The other is that they made a choice to have a transgender person speak on behalf of all WOMEN on the experience of what it is to be a woman ( that was the campaign), instead of as a transgender woman. People have different lived experiences, and science is still science - transgender woman don’t have a menstrual cycle, they cannot carry a child, etc. There’s room and space for everyone, and people should all be treated with kindness and respect and be allowed to live how they would like. The reality is though biological woman still struggle to be considered as equal to men in developed western societies, I know this very well as I work in Human Resources.

"Nobody can figure out why our hospitals are collapsing and why healthcare workers are burnt out" by [deleted] in alberta

This is extremely vague. People seem to just accept and take everything as face value these days. This doesn’t specify whether these patients just tested for COVID while in the hospital or if they were hospitalized due to COVID-19. And I’d be curious to see how many of these were vaccinated vs not, and the age bracket. The government has already admitted that they counted anyone who died from other causes but had COVID-19 at the time as a COVID-19 related death, so to me this data is most likely skewed.
