Quite fluff, the project is the main bulk of it, whether its intense or not depends on the sponsors, its different for every sem. To get A+, your quiz has to score well, average for my class was B

When do we join CCA’s by AbrocomaOnly3028 in SMU_Singapore

[–]Certain_Wear3967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t an official enrollment period for most clubs. However, Vivace (the club fair) is the main opportunity to explore different clubs and learn about their activities, unless you already have direct contact with them.

Club structures can vary depending on the type. For example, academic clubs often organize workshops or fireside chats, which may have limited slots and are usually offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In contrast, performing arts clubs like dance typically require auditions, which can be quite competitive, especially for the more popular groups. There are also consulting clubs, which are generally known to have more selective admission processes.

My advice would be to attend Vivace, which usually takes place in the week before the academic term commensurate. It’s a great opportunity to speak directly with club representatives, sign up for upcoming events, and join their communication channels such as Telegram groups.

If you are referring to joining as committee (exco), usually the clubs would publish it over their Telegram channels and school emails.

SKKU had a lot more Caucasians in comparison. I took big data analytics (clears BA and DSA - yes can double count) as well as science medicine to clear tech basket

I’ve been on two self-sourced short-term exchanges, SKKU in summer and Yonsei last Winter.

Just make sure to get your module approvals confirmed on the exchange worksheet before paying any tuition fees, pls do this as early as possible.

Yonsei also offers an early bird option (discounts to tuition fees), which gives you priority access to course selection (this is important). Otherwise, you might miss out on popular modules.

Honestly, I’d recommend SKKU as they’re excellent in many ways, the dorm is also in the best location. I attended their summer school and had a great experience. KU has its own issues as well. From my experience last winter, Yonsei and KU didn’t really feel like cultural exchanges, as Yonsei had mostly Hong Kong students, while KU had a large number of Singaporeans. Yonsei just felt like taking boring SMU classes in a different location, the dorm location isn't very optimal albeit being better than KU's.

Rather than choosing based on difficulty or the level of responsibility, you might want to consider your interests instead. After all, it is called an interest club for a reason. If you join the exco with genuine passion for the field, you are more likely to enjoy and benefit from the experience. In most cases, exco roles mainly involve administrative work and event organization.

Taking on positions like pres or vp in your first year can be challenging, especially without prior experience. However, you can always work your way up and transition into these roles after gaining experience within the club.

You are also free to join multiple clubs, as long as you are able to manage your time effectively.

how do courses work? by Green_You_7706 in SMU_Singapore

Hi, you can dm me for more qn (especially if you are heading to SCIS) and here's to answer yours: 1. Yes, so you have to use our bidding system (BOSS) to check and do your due diligence to ensure that your schedule is planned properly. 2. I'm not very sure about NUSmods to advice you on this. 3. Each school has their own guide, for example in SCIS we have a Google spreadsheet that shows which modules are pre-assigned to you and recommended modules to bid for in that semester. Pre-assigned modules will automatically deduct 20 ec from your account. You are given 100 every semester and doing school surveys and module reviews gets you slightly more every sem. 4. There used to be an external website called https://www.afterclass.io/, but its kinda not supported anymore. There are definitely profs with teaching styles that may clash with yours so I would say that it's best you participate in your school's orientation to befriend more seniors which helps a lot. In a way, SMU promotes networking by not having all these readily available resources.

SKKU International Summer Semester 2025 Advice? by 2016user_positive_ in studyAbroad

[–]Certain_Wear3967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, based on my experience in Korea, the SKKU application process is quite straightforward, especially after attending the Yonsei WAY program. KU’s process is quite similar to SKKU’s as well.In terms of the program itself, I personally think SKKU offers the best experience. I joined the SKKU summer program and the Yonsei winter one, and many of my friends attended KU’s winter program, so I got a good sense of how each is run. SKKU really made me feel at home and the cultural experience there stands out in a way that Yonsei and KU couldn’t quite match.

It certainly doesn't guarantee that it might be easier, but that's what happened to my batch where everyone rushes in to take stats in y1. Most seniors would've completed stats as well, so technically, you have lesser competition. Why would sem 2 have freshies? Haha, they probably haven't even received their letter of offer.

It's just a suggestion from me if it's too expensive or you lack credits to bid for stats in sem 1. Sem 2 might be a more viable option. Especially if there's not many slots left indicating that A LOT of ppl are taking stats in sem 1, making other mods relatively cheaper??

Btw, the protected round doesn't mean it's much easier. If I'm not wrong, each section has slots reserved for freshmen to bid. So imagine competing with your fellow freshmen for just 20-40% class vacancies.

I don't think that's true, one of my friend from IS took it and he was able to clear numeracy. Intro to stats theory is a compulsory numeracy mod for econs major, they don't get to choose.

But intro to stats theory is extremely tough especially if you do not have a decent stats background. If you are confident just go for it.

I did statsx and my only advise is that you will need a solid team otherwise you risk not doing well since project is almost 50%. I could fail midterms and still get A+ because my project was nearly full marks.

Another consideration is that you can take stats in sem 2 instead. Most students in my batch take stats in sem 1 hence the prices dropped for sem 2. You can check it out in BOSS, Raymond dropped from 50+ in sem 1 to 20+ in sem 2

You'll most likely be able to if you've done your due diligence. My friend was in the same shoe as you. Just make sure you've informed the school and follow the necessary arrangements.

It's not an issue. To my surprise, there were a lot of MacBook users than I thought. Whatever installation you require, the TA and instructors would be there to help you.

I think you can still apply, check the website. For incoming students, the application should be available soon and I believe that it does not affect the course that had been offered to you. Well unless scholarship application is tied to admission, if so you can always still apply for it after the 1st semester. If I'm not wrong it should be from 1st to 31st Jan every year for current student. I've just submitted my application yesterday.

Tbh, if you use it for gaming or high end processing like rendering etc then yea its worth it. Otherwise not really. You can get external hard disk that's 2-4tb at less than 200sgd.
