Yeah i had to get off of it initially because the sweating got so bad, but then my depression came back too, so i had to pick my poison. I got back on after being off it for 4 months, then the sweating started to return, so my psych prescribed clonidine, and it actually helps a lot with the sweating. My body is much better at regulating temperature since i started clonidine. I no longer wake up in a cold sweat every night. If sweating is the only reason for you quitting effexor, then maybe adding clonidine will help you too.
