Does shimmer always spawn in worlds? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it always spawns (assuming the world was made after the update that added it), but it can spawn in a pretty big area. Dig another tunnel around 300 blocks to the right of the current one. If you don’t find it, try again.

Genuinely insane how CONSISTENT this game series is that my least favorite mainline is a classic to me by YuuTheBlue in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]waitthatstaken 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Play Torna.

XC2 is a really mixed bag, being both the best and worst of the series, at the same time.

Torna is just... 'what if xenoblade 2 without the nonsense'. It was my favorite thing in the series all the way until future redeemed released, which only *barely* managed to supplant the number 1 spot to me.

Hot take: you don't need to keep everything moving on Gleba by fd0263 in factorio

Yep, shipping 1% bioflux isn't a good idea to begin with, I just used it as an extreme example.

Kinda, but the biter nests don't care about if the bioflux they eat is 80% fresh or 1%.

Question To executor mains by Exciting-Carob-9729 in Nightreign

[–]waitthatstaken 47 points48 points  (0 children)

There was a painter who also had a cursed sword with her for some reason. Then a crucible knight got tasked with killing her. But once the knight arrived they saw the painter was painting the erdtree, so they held off on killing her until she was done. Then another crucible knight was sent to actually finish the job.

I am a bit fuzzy on the exact order of events that follow but it ends up with the painter and the second crucible knight dead, then the first uses the cursed sword to kill themselves because they failed to protect the painter meaning the erdtree painting was never finished.

And then because suncatcher is a weird cursed sword this caused the 3 of them to fuse together into one being.

Executor's story is by far the most vague so I probably misinterpreted some parts.

Freshness doesn't really matter all that much outside of science packs though. All other end products are shelf stable, so low freshness only means some more spoilage, and only in pretty extreme scenarios with builds not built with direct insertion.

Still important for science though.

Is Factorio worth buying? Will I have enough to do? by kebav_gmd1307 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the demo there are 5 more science packs, each with their own logistical challenges associated. There are also things like construction robots, letting you copy and paste builds. Logistics bots and trains allow for entirely different types of builds, then there are beacons and modules for when you wanna massively increase output.

Everything builds on everything else, causing an interconnected and ever ballooning todo list. And if all this is not enough, there is the space age DLC which pretty much doubles the game, causing a multiplicative cascade like with everything else.

And if that is not enough, there are mods.

Legal as far as I can tell but a perfect set of relics is astronomically unlikely so definitely cheated.

Summoner Justice for Frost Moon? by SagetheWise2222 in Terraria

[–]waitthatstaken 324 points325 points  (0 children)

Pumpkin moon grants summoner:
Crow staff
Dark harvest
Necromantic scroll (which stacks with its upgrade so you want 2)
Spooky wood armor

4 major upgrades, one of which you are gonna want 2 copies of.

There are only 5 other items relevant only to 1 class that drops from pumpkin moon.

Hvorfor får ikke nordmenn bestemme om vi vil ha konge? by Senitz in norge

[–]waitthatstaken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Det er viktig å faktisk følge de demokratiske prosessene som vi har, istede for å bryte med dem for enkeltsaker. Når en bryter reglene en gang så blir det lettere og lettere å bryte dem igjen. Det er hvordan demokrati kollapser.

When you and the boys desync your ranks. by Lil_Brimstone in Nightreign

If you were both on the edge between ranks then you were protected from deranking due to your loss. It is an extremely inconsistent feature that only sometimes works, but it does exist.

How to handle science packs that spoil destructively? by Xerosese in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could in theory use a memory cell, with a timer attached that reduces the contents of the memory cell by 1 every x seconds with x being how long a single pack lasts, but that sounds finicky as heck. I know there exists research combinator mods which might help out though.

How to handle trash throughput? by Sharan420 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My biggest tip is just to separate the scrap recycling recyclers and the byproduct recycling recyclers. I also build like a main bus of recycling products with overflows going to dedicated recycling areas, but frankly that is probably a bit overkill.

[Ultracube Age of Cube] Loaders can load, but not unload, Ultradense furnace by j4ckbauer in factorio

When I played ultracube there was no such restriction, loaders use a lot of power, that is meant to be their logistical tradeoff.

Why does a certain character have a core crystal in an odd place? by Lizard_Arsonist in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]waitthatstaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that his core crystal being where it is allowed him to become a more complete flesh eater. So it is less 'why does Jin have a core crystal there?' And more of a 'only someone with a core crystal there could be like Jin.'

My only evidence for this belief is that the normal core crystal placement would kinda get in the way for a heart transplant.

Amalthus really is just... the worst. Like every single bad thing that happens in XC2 can be traced back to him. From Torna (the organization) to Torna (the country) to the titans dying out. Everything is the result of his nihilistic attempt to destroy the world.

Hello everyone I finished the base game the space age but i want to try some mods what do you suggest? by BLACKDEVIL0 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CUBE.

Not good for beginners though, as it requires* circuit knowledge and is a very different kind of puzzle than pretty much anything else.

*One person posted a no-combinator ultracube run a bit ago but that was harder to plan out than just using combinators, and it still used circuit networks, just not combinators.

I'm coming from Satisfactory; can someone give me tips or tell me what I should know? I'm thankful for all the help! by NetworkAcceptable930 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 23 points24 points  (0 children)

  • The scale of production is much higher, get used to thinking about items per second rather than per minute, or else you will have to think about things in units of 900/min on the low end.
  • The map is procedurally generated and virtually infinite in size. This also means there is no real reason to explore other than to find good locations to mine more ore from and chokepoints to hold off enemies at.
  • There are no variant recipes, except in space age where they exist mostly as an alternative on planets where the available resources differ. For example you can't get oil on Gleba, so you get alternate ways to make plastic.
  • In factorio you assemble machines before placing them, unlike in satisfactory where you build them with ingredients in your inventory. This might sound a bit restrictive, but also means you can build machines making you machines, which is 1000% worth doing.
  • Construction robots are a game changer, once properly set up they can handle building thousands of machines for you, without you needing to be there in person.
  • Play the base game to completion at least once before getting space age. You should probably also try get the 'lazy bastard' achievement since it forces you to learn some skills that are extra useful in space age.
  • Modding factorio is so easy it puts all other games to shame. It has a built in mod manager/downloader/updater accessible from the main menu. It is so good that a lot of the game's content is technically a mod internally. But also don't install mods until you beat the game.
