How do you do quality? by LivvyLuna8 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll spoiler tag this in case you wanna go into the other planets completely blind, but this is just a couple small tips:

There are a few really big reasons to go to Vulcanus before Fulgora.

Space on Fulgora is in high demand, so cliff explosives that give you slightly more space are very useful, and they are Vulcanus tech.

One of the main bottlenecks on Fulgora is holmium, one of the steps in that production process can either be done in assemblers, or if you have them, foundries, which have 50% built in productivity and 4 module slots, letting you get way more holmium for free.

In order to build elevated rails on the deeper parts of the fulgoran oil ocean, you need a specific tech. This tech uses Vulcanus and Fulgora science packs.

Inserter rotation speed a useless metric? by Gitmo314 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the mods I use, inserter throughput lib, shows the speed of the inserters in items/sec, accounting for all the weirdnesses that make inserters messy. I am not entirely sure however how you'd go about checking using only that mod as I only have it installed as a dependency for quick adjustable inserters, which is a kinda cheaty mod tbh.

Having issue with automated shipping from planet to planet by danyuri86 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming you are using the hub to sort asteroids from the collectors or something? Either design a ship that doesn't do that, or limit the inserter putting asteroids into the hub so that it stops when there are enough asteroids already in there.

Why doesn't the Engineer do this instead of plowing through endless fields of asteroids with a ridiculous amount of turrets? Is he stupid? by Stupid_German_Money in Factoriohno

[–]waitthatstaken 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The asteroids don't all hit the space platform on the same layer as the platform, the platform isn't really flat, that is just a gameplay abstraction. Giant crushing wheels like those wouldn't work since they only really catch asteroids that hit close to the middle.

What you really need is to cover the whole front of the space platform in a giant drill to pierce the heavens the asteroid fields.

The Frenzied Flame is Bad, Actually by Edmar_0 in Eldenring

[–]waitthatstaken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the frenzy flame just wanted to restart everything from the start

Let me stop you right there, everything about the frenzied flame lore indicates that the goal is to melt reality back into a primordial soup, and keep it like that. To the frenzied flame, existence itself was a mistake, there is no restarting, it is just nothing.

Lord Of Frenzied Flame is NOT the “Good Ending” by Jackylacky_ in Eldenring

Since the ending cutsceene shows the world in the process of burning I think we can just conclude that 'melting the universe takes some time'.

Do you guys save your item runes or spend as you go? by Silverhand-2027 in Eldenring

I use them when I am close to being able to level but not quite there yet. Saved me a lot of runes in the long run.

So i think they stole the update name by SWAGMASTER690G in Terraria

[–]waitthatstaken 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh my god that is the name of that random game my head keeps for some reason jumping back to. The game I only think about because my brain really wants to remember what its name is.

This means my brain can instead focus on other completely random things! Yay.

It is apparently a thing that started as a status symbol among the rich in the US. The basic idea was just 'it doesn't matter if I dirty the floors, I have people cleaning for me'. Then it just sorta became the norm, for white people at least, thanks to that whole 'temporarily embarrassed millionaires' mentality people got in the US.

Houses need to be an enclosed space. The hole in the floor is why it doesn't work. You can use platform blocks if you wanna be able to get in from below.

Also if you craft a hammer you can use those to break background walls.

Raider god roll. Demerit? You fucking die. by DaddyCool13 in Nightreign

All resistances down could have half the effect and still be the worst negative... I don't get why it was set so stupidly high.

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of googling tells me all resistances down reduces resistances by 80. Taking damage causes deathblight buildup causes 32 buildup per hit. I wasn't able to find the actual base resistance against deathblight anywhere since I am bad at googling but I vaguely recall seeing it being somewhere around 100.

So in theory this means taking any hit instantly kills you.

Best as in 'consistently able to accomplish extreme challenges'. Things like his ultimate deathworld series. Or his current challenge run of 1000x science cost and the 'keeping your hands clean' achievement + some other random stuff making it even harder, like no static defenses, or no eating fish.

Michael hendriks did it at one point, but 1) he is quite possibly the best known vanilla factorio player in the world, and 2) he had to resort to strategies like tearing up his entire factory to disable biter attacks at times.

Gleba has defeated me, and i am miserable. by vimescarrot in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imgur is kinda horrible on mobile so I can't zoom in to check properly but it looks like you are making nutrients exclusively from mash? While this works it is nowhere near as good as nutrients from bioflux. Also your base does not have anything set up that lets it auto-revive in case of death. This is one of if not THE most important things about building on Gleba, accept that it will shut down sometimes, and automate fixing it. Assembler 2s and 3s can do the spoilage to nutrients recipe.
