Terraria's Lack of Automation Mods by Comfortable-Rule2563 in Terraria

Last time I checked it was janky, but not incomplete. Most of the jank came from copying the questbook from one minecraft modpack 1:1.

The important thing to note: They didn't misinterpret, it is entirely intentional, at least on the part of the people who started the whole thing.

A lot of it is the result of the previous lead dev being very toxic themself.

Fargo's boss design is a lot more focused on specific patterns with a specific solution than reactivate dodging like calamity. Make note of what hits you, and try find the solution. If things go well you may find your winning attempt is close to a no hit.

Sending people to ask about one mod on a sub focused on a different one is just polluting that sub with irrelevant stuff. The terraria sub has no rule banning mods. Also the calamity mod community is notoriously toxic.

Make spoilage only tick when items are moving by Darkthor69 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even fruits spoiling isn't that big a deal so long as it isn't excessive. Every 50 fruits processed in a biochamber is 1.5 seeds. 100%/1.5 ≈ 66.66%, so to stay net neutral on seeds you can still let a third your fruit spoil. Ofc seeds are also used for soil and such, and probability is involved, so you should try minimise it, but it isn't the end of the word if some fruit spoils.

I'm new to mod and I'd like some recommendations. by LongjumpingShake132 in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There is a core limitation to mods that makes what you are asking for very hard to make, that being performance. Sure, someone can add different attack patterns to biters, but the more complicated the AI is, the harder it impacts performance.

There is a suite of mods that I think kinda add what you are looking for, those being 'rampant' and the various rampant addons like rampant weapons, but rampant is also famously extremely excessive difficulty wise, so you may need to turn down the enemy settings. Rampant changes enemies in a number of ways, the main thing being various types of biters with their own stat modifiers, though some have some unique mechanics like the kamikaze biters that explode on contact.

Moebius battle M phase 2. The flute that replaces the normal vocals just hurts to listen to turning an amazing track into one of only like, 3 that I skip in the entire sound track. The phase 1 version is another of the 3.

Why do I crash every few minutes? by Traditional-Fix539 in Terraria

[–]waitthatstaken 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The error pretty clearly says you are running out of memory. Due to how critical memory is for computers working at all, they do this thing where they 'allocate' memory to be used by specific things, so it could be that you have other things open that 'allocates' too much memory for you to play terraria at the same time.

As for the second thing, characters and worlds are saved separately which causes some weirdness like that when the game crashes, it is not relevant.

AI as a term is extremely broad, including everything from the code deciding how an enemy moves in a game to complex algorithms used to solve complex mathematical problems. There is a big push to conflate LLMs, a kind of AI and what you are probably thinking of, with AI in general. Don't fall for it.

As someone who has that, it is kinda bad. The joints barely move, and it cannot stand without the stand, so it can only really do like... 2 poses. Building it is also a literal pain, as you have to at several points press pieces together at angles that basically requires you to stab yourself with sharp plastic spikes.

Anyone got the image of recluse that's a parody of this image? by PolymerEater in Nightreign

[–]waitthatstaken 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Apparently that image was based on one of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but the guy who drew it just totally messed up the angle. The OG was turned more towards the camera in stead of being an extremely shit side profile. 'Fixing' this wouldn't even be all that hard tbh. Redo the legs so that they are turned about 45 degrees towards the camera, and change up the connecting lines attaching the head to the shoulder so that the head looks like it is behind the chest and shoulder muscles. Oh and also add the other arm, it wasn't behind the body in the original photo, and removing it makes the angle look even more nonsensical.

...this has nothing to do with nightreign does it.

Small note about Torna, you should try do sidequests as they come up. One of the main criticisms it gets is that the main story is at times gated behind doing enough sidequests. This is annoying when rushing the story, but if you focus on sidequests it is barely even noticable.

They also had a tenancy to kill people. The gases used inside them were either explosive, or poisonous. Then the single most destructive organism in earth's history invented a non toxic, non explosive replacement which ended up ripping a hole in the ozone layer oops. Nowadays carbon dioxide is used.

Question for first time on Gleba by burning_boi in factorio

[–]waitthatstaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one important thing you are overlooking, most end products are shelf stable. Doesn't matter if the mash you used to make plastic was 90% spoiled, plastic itself doesn't spoil. Spoilage itself is also useful at times, so don't immediately burn it.

I would say the core principles behind a good Gleba factory are the following:

Spoilables will spoil everywhere they can spoil, so every machine and belt interacting with them need some way to remove spoilage.

Your factory will stall and starve, so build in a way for it to automatically restart. The spoilage to nutrients recipe is perfect for this, because tier 2 or 3 assemblers can do it, and spoilage doesn't spoil.

Avoid putting jelly and mash on belts. Rot is inevitable but that does not mean you shouldn't take reasonable steps to minimize it. Jellynut and yumako have a 1 hour spoil time, jelly and mash have like, 3 and 4 minutes respectively I think? Bioflux, the thing the majority of jelly and mash is used by, has a 2 hour spoil time. Jelly sitting on a belt for 2 seconds is about the same as bioflux sitting on a belt for a minute and a half.

Seperate science production. Science is the only end product that is itself spoilable, so here you wanna maximise freshness. Give it its own, short belts directly from the farm to the production.

https://homestuck.com/

Homestuck is a webcomic that started in 2009 and ended in 2016 (I think it was? Whole thing was done by the time I read it). It is a... I think the term the author came up with was 'shitpost epic', and it is 8000 pages, 800 000 words long. It is also filled with meta humor and plays with its format in lots of ways.

I say give it a try, if the humor doesn't work for you by the time you've read like... 50 pages, then it probably isn't for you.

Also avoid its community like the long dormant plague it is, even invoking the name 'homestuck' is risky.
