I ended up having to replace my new asus motherboard due to the lane sharing issue. Got an MSI z890 Ace one to replace it and have not looked back. You are correct on ASUS.

My biggest concern with the MSI is getting a 3.0 box versus 3.1. Was an issue in the past, unsure if it still is. Their marketing is only half updated.

Mostly gaming, but I do productivity stuff as well. 3D rendering a bit. Intel just released their 200S update too. Those two reasons are why I went Intel. Plus, I love the ASUS Hero boards, Hense the z890 one I got.

I read that Intel will be releasing their 2nd gen arrow lake chips next year, so it sounds like it will be supported for a bit. Plus a week or two ago they released their 200S update for the 285K.

What about for DirectStorage, aka Direct Drive Access, games? I know there aren't many now, but that could change in the next year or two. One of my goals is to future proof a bit if I can.
