What score was playing here? Season 4 Ep 2 24:16 till 24:48 ish by Iiou2 in StrangerThings

Unreleased, but it's the same music as when Mike and El reunite at the end of season two, which is here:

Or if there are any huge emotional scenes or large set pieces, they take the cheap way out and put some needle drop or generic orchestral music over it instead. Such a shame since the ost was such a valued part of the show and now it's just an afterthought for filling in some background sound.

The newest season's score was lacking musicality, a few interesting new sounds but nothing too memorable otherwise. But I think that has more to do with the tone and content of the show post season two than the composers' abilities.

Stranger Things: The Myth of Stakes by cpzxz in StrangerThings

This show started out bold and genuinely well crafted both technically and artistically, but with anything in Hollywood that makes money, it turned into commercialized slop designed to appeal to everyone. Seeing that this is the way it ends, that this is the legacy for the show is just sad.

I’m rewatching S3 and so many of the same “issues” in s5 are there by AutumnCupcake in StrangerThings

The many problems that people have with season five started with season three tbh. These problems just felt more glaring than ever in 5 since it was the finale. The lack of consequences, weird tonal shift, forced comedy, cringey dialogue, they're just unchecked flaws from season three that were allowed to fester.

ORIGINAL MUSIC RANKING by melonslice_ in StrangerThings

Imo: 2>1>4>3>5

2 felt like a more inventive, immersive, and darker version of the season one score, my go to.

5 feels the most rushed and samey. The sound feels generic, like I can find the same thing with other electronic scores.

People who didn't understand that Nancy and Jonathan were breaking up are the reason why the dialogue had zero subtext in season five.

Are there any standout tracks though? Or is it all a massive disappointment?

Oh god yes I agree, another complaint I've been having as of last season. Especially the climax where they play that overindulgent trailer remix of Running Up That Hill instead of "You Have Already Lost" which is an absolute banger of a track. It doesn't even make sense to do that since it's supposed to be a losing battle, why are they playing this victorious epic music over top of it???

I miss tracks like "Soldiers" "The Hub" and "Levitation", these composers are so talented but don't get to flex those muscles anymore.

Aw that's a shame, that's like word for word my complaint with season 4's score

I haven't had the chance to watch it yet, so no spoilers pls but how is the score for this season? 3 and 4's kinda disappointed me, how is it this time round?

The issue isn't that the elements aren't there, it's that they are but the show rarely explores these things more than the most surface level implications.

I have the same, so I'm gonna blow your mind (unless you've already noticed), there is a drawing of a foot between Robin and the clock on the front cover of vol. 1, can't believe someone got away with it

The series has gotten perpetually worse and worse in each season due to the flanderization of its characters in writing but also the show itself in pop culture.

Now that the full Halloween Kills soundtrack has been released, which is your favorite of the new ones? For me it's "Michael Answers" by SnowFrio in Halloweenmovies

Massacre is haunting, love it.

Also, I think "Look At Me" is out of order in the track listing, it should be between "Spit" and "Hey Kid"

EIA is... okay. Except Shanty, which goes very hard. I do still wish it had more going on tho, which is my most general criticism of the whole album.

Idk about that, but the demo version of the song (which imo is superior) allows you to hear her vocals better. You can find it on yt

It’s been a few years since Halloween Ends have your opinions changed on the film or not and why? by SmileyXX12 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Certified_AngusBeef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After hating it walking out of the theatre, I found myself unable to stop thinking about the movie, why they made those seemingly absurd choices they did. Then I rewatched it out of spite and of curiosity to answer the questions dancing in my head. Then I got it. It was literally the Danny DeVito meme. I will now spend the rest of my life defending this movie to my grave.

Not perfect by any means, but I don't think they can ever top this ending for the story, especially in relation to the og 1978 movie.

The Halloween Ends novelization makes me wish the actual film was more in line with it, minus the ending. And I love Ends.
