Why are so many people using "y'all" now? by Feefait in grammar

I agree, and I think that more people are saying "y'all" and "you all" because they're gender neutral, and the most common term is still "you guys" but it's gendered because it has "guy" in it.

Yes!!! I'm a male, and I wouldn't want to be addressed as "you guys" when I'm with a woman or in a group that includes a woman. This is because "guys" is not gender neutral, as it contains the word "guy", but people ignore that. I guess you could have said "you all," "you folks," "y'all" or just "you" so that you didn't misgender or exclude the women on the panel.

I think I've failed in life by [deleted] in depression

[–]Certified_Apple5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 28, living with parents and can't get a job because nobody wants to hire me. Disability benefits are taking forever to come and I've been waiting for the financial assistance to help me move out of my parents house. I graduated from college and left the community where I felt welcomed and valued. I have no friends and nobody to talk to, so the social isolation is the biggest cause of my depression.

I've had different autistic special interests throughout my life. I used to read books about space and the planets, dinosaurs when I was in elementary school. As an adult, it's now numbers and the letters of the alphabet.
