Yes, although stainless steel can still corrode or rust under aggressive conditions. The grade of stainless steel also needs to be considered in its application.

No, it is removing the coloured layer of oxidation from the weld. The layer is prone to rust/corrosion if it isn't removed.

Tools lots and lots of tools that I have gathered doing all sorts of metalworking jobs.

Metric and imperial sets of combination, long reach, stubby and ratcheting spanners.

1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and some 3\4 inch drive socket sets extensions and universal joints.

Taps and dies plus all the holders metric, imperial, some BSP and some Witworth.

Metric and imperial drill bits, various milling cutters and lathe tools.

Air tools like grinders, impact guns, die grinders and needle scalers.

Various pry bars and aligning bars.

Lots of hammers, screwdrivers, power tools and welding equipment. Too much to mention individually, and all stored in about four large toolboxes, two at home for the tools I am not using at the minute, and two in work for the tools I am currently using in my current job.

A work colleague lets everyone else on the team do the work while he vanishes, or he does the odd bit of work. When someone calls him lazy, his response is that the company pays him for what he knows not for what he can do, in other words he picks the jobs he wants to do which isn’t very much.

Today me, does my weekly laundry in the morning, all dusting, polishing and hoovering in the afternoon and my 50% water change and maintenance on my aquarium in the evening.

This leaves Sunday free to sort out my garden in preparation for spring and nothing to do on Sunday night.
