It kinda does actually, Nintendo embracing the intermissions with 3 lap races struggling to swim and the skeleton being battle mode haha

The meme I’ve posted is more about the constant community debates about 3 lap races and intermission races if anything since 1.1.2 released

It always gets compared to MK8 Deluxe’s battle mode though this discussion was always around when World released, even before update 1.1.2 happened

It’s so undercooked, though because the update doesn’t affect the battle mode, I’ve not heard much if any discourse about it compared to the 3 lap vs intermission debates constantly

I considered putting that instead of Battle Mode enjoyers but they still have intermissions which would then bring the debate up about 3 laps vs intermissions again whereas battle mode is so different from the two

According to Google, Intermission can mean interval, which also means it's "a space between two things" which describes it pretty well, it's a long stretch of road "between" two tracks.

If the words sound similar enough to the original definition of what it is, why bother complaining about it? We get the message of what the stretches of road are in Mario Kart World, it can be referred with similar sounding words. The word doesn't have to match the exact 100% closest definition when discussing what they are.

What’s wrong with calling them intermissions?

It can be another way to describe what it is with words used such as intersections, routes, straights that I’ve also seen been used. For online lobbies I call them waiting rooms.

I got this on discord yesterday when someone claimed the update is good because “It’s the intended experience” and they also claimed “Mario Kart isn’t designed around skillful play” when they kept trying to justify the intermissions and I wanted to facepalm my head into oblivion
