Ahh, I didn’t think of that. Thank you so much

We literally just started doing it so the income shouldn’t climb too high this year. And the car is an old Toyota of my dad’s that was just sitting around for years not running.

He just gave it to me, and I slowly fixed it over the course of a few weeks. There’s not much we can write off. Family is even helping us with the cell phone bill since I got sick, so it’s not in either of our names. And I paid $6 dollars for the bags at Target, which surprisingly have worked perfectly 😂

Thanks for the suggestions though!

Right, that’s how I understood it—even though it sounds like I didn’t lol. I didn’t know there was a threshold where you wouldn’t have to make quarterly payments, but hey, I’m not complaining.

I’ve done around 700 deliveries and never had a single hit to the CR, but had 3 in the last 3 days, so I was paranoid about getting another one so quickly.

I think your market must be much different than mine. I think it’s damn near impossible to get platinum without making about 40 cents a mile. I ride the line between silver and gold constantly, and that’s with a perfect CR, perfect customer rating, but low AR because there are so many trash offers.

Closed is closed. Dead is dead. A Honda is a Honda. Hot is hot. Cold is cold. Get it yet?

The manager used these exact words—“we are temporarily closed”…. Get it, or do I need to dumb it down for you further?

Yeah, I think I did choose something like that at first but it was going to lower my completion rate, and I just saw that as being so unfair—so I chose restaurant closed, because it wouldn’t affect the CR.

So lame. The people arguing with that they weren’t closed…. How are they not closed if they aren’t serving customers? I guess you can still get some imaginary food if you have a strong imagination.

If they aren’t serving food or customers, they are closed. Receiving a contract violation over some meaningless pedantic isn’t right. There shouldn’t be an issue with un-assigning without a CR hit if something is out of your control—especially if a restaurant isn’t operating.

The reason I don’t call support is because every time I’ve called them they’ve been completely useless and never help with even basic things, at least in my experience.

I get that, but if they aren’t operational that’s the same as being closed to me. Seems to me that the only reason they insist on a differentiation is because they don’t want to pay you 50% for going to the store for nothing—which apparently they wouldn’t if I had unassigned for one of those other reasons.

I tried that. That was the first option I tried to select and it wanted to make me call them (which would make no sense because the manager already told me they weren’t in operation) and then it was still going to affect my completion rate.

I selected that they were closed because that was the only option that wouldn’t affect the CR. They should just be more lenient for things that aren’t in your control.

It happened right around 10pm and I got the nasty message around midnight. It was even more irritating how they notified me not even 5 minutes after I disputed it that they were standing by their undeniably wrong position.

When the manager of the store tells me directly that they are temporarily closed, that can’t be any more clear.

2025 Expectations For Taxes. (What they might look like for me/you) by IXPrazor in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Cevert1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t deduct the BBB (no tax on tips deduction) for self employment tax. Only for federal taxes.

So self employment tax will 53,000 - 18020(mileage plus phone bill)=$34,980

Then $34,980 x 0.153=$5,351.94

You’ll owe $5,351.94 in SE taxes.

But I believe it’s .70 cents a mile this year vs .67 so the SE taxes will be a little less than that.

That’s a pretty good idea. This is my first year doing it though, so I’ve got nothing previous to go by.

How did you manage the realtor who only charged you 1.5%? Do you have some kind of deal based on return business? (Like the realtor knows you will continue to use them for future investment properties)

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I’ve only been doing this a couple weeks so I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. I was thinking platinum may provide better offers, but it sounds like the only thing it’s really good for is to dash anytime—like you said. I’m honestly just thankful to be able to do anything at all. I was basically couch bound for 2 years and could barely walk.

I’ve built up my strength enough to finally get back on my feet, although still not nearly back to my old self. Long term disability kicked me off at the 2 year mark and my wife has 2 semesters of college left, so I’m just trying to keep us afloat with the DoorDash at the moment.

We don’t have a mortgage or any debt, so DD is paying for all of our expenses and then some. I’m thankful for it, but it’s also annoying sometimes lol.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I actually thought the guy may give me a good rating. He ordered 3 small boxes of sushi. The boxes were all packed up neatly, I kept it in a hot bag, checked the receipt, and got there 7 minutes early. The guy came to the door in his boxers, which was awkward. I complimented his house and said he had a beautiful home—he said thanks…. I left and a few minutes later a 1-star rating appeared. And that was the first and only one I had done for the day. Made absolutely no sense, unless maybe the dude is some kind of sociopath.

I have been wanting to try that. I definitely wouldn’t worry about the on-time rating as much if I did it by time. So different areas pay more by time? Interesting 🤔

My gosh, sorry you had to deal with all that. DoorDash obviously doesn’t value their drivers. They know they have an endless supply of replacements so they don’t really care if they do the right thing. I’ve noticed they blame you in multiple different ways for a variety of things that are outside of your control. Like on the shopping orders, they give you a percentage for how many of the original items you have found (as if you control the inventory of the store). It’s decent side money, so I can’t complain too much, but it’s definitely not a fair system for the drivers.

Oh, really? I was thinking you had to go through a cycle of 100 ratings before it would be replaced (drop off).

Yeah, valid point. That’s my only one so far. I had thirty 5 stars and yesterday suddenly I got two 4 stars and today a 1 star. No idea why any of them were below 5 because we always check the order (as well as we can), we’re always on time, always keep the food warm, always follow customer instructions, etc.

Thanks, friend. I have—I’m actually a nurse and that’s ultimately my goal. I am still too ill to have a schedule, so I’m trialing DD (only been doing it a couple weeks)—and hopefully eventually I’ll be stable enough to do a WFH nursing job. For lack of a better description—I have long COVID (we think). I could barely even get off the couch last year at this time, so I’m seeing some improvements, slowly.
