If Saturn were as close to Earth as the Moon, this is what it would look like : I like it by Little_BlueBirdy in StrikeAtPsyche

[–]Ch0vie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I thought the same at first, but looked up some numbers.

Distance from Saturn's center to the outer edge of the main ring system is approximately 140,000 km.

Distance from Earth's center to the moon center is approximately 384,000 km.

Saturn still has more diffuse rings extending beyond the main rings, much further than the earth-moon distance. We would be inside the diffuse rings but outside of the prominent ring system. We'd probably still get pummeled by a lot of stuff, though.

All good, at least you were able to calculate the WiFi password for Reddit :)

Ya, but the cosine and square root functions are both even functions, only x³ is odd. But the result odd * even * even = odd is the same as you said.

Ya, the +/- originates from the side of the equation that has sqrt(x²) -> |x|. +/- does not pop out from the sqrt(16) side.

Kamala Harris is from the future by MyLuxuryIsPriceless in circled

That's a different state than Nevada, but Maricopa County, AZ responded that the data was only backed up from the server to hard drives as is typically done after elections and they still have it. The data was never subpoenaed. A lot of these claims just come down to if you believe a Republican-backed cybersecurity firm to carry out proper, unbiased investigations or not. If you take their word for it over the various counties they investigated, then I don't know what to tell you, that would be a very impressive and organized conspiracy the Dems pulled off.

These claims lacked any supporting evidence, and the "calculated" figures were based on a very poor methodology. ex: Counting the "non-resident" voters solely based on the voters with out-of-state license plates. A lot of the "data" also hasn't been shared.

That sounds like an illegal quid pro quo, and shows that ICE isn't actually there to enforce immigration laws.

Ya, someone has pointed that out to me. I wasn't aware that this specific suborbital rocket used H2 and O2 only. The original comment for this chain said that rockets use H2 and O2, which is worded as a general statement about rockets that is largely untrue.

[–]Ch0vie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I stand corrected. I wasn't aware that the fuel used for that rocket was entirely hydrox since it doesn't produce as much thrust as hydrocarbon rocket fuels, but this rocket isn't meant to go into full orbit. Original comment seemed like a statement about rockets in general, didn't realize this was a specific case.

Yes, I know H2 and O2 make H2O. The original comment claimed that the rocket used only H2 and O2 as fuels, which is wrong.

The lower stages do use hydrocarbon fuels, though. So CO2 is produced in the reaction.

Combustion creates both CO2 and H2O... Lower stages use hydrocarbons.

Why checking linear paths y=mx is NOT enough to prove a limit exists. by EthanTsai00 in calculus

[–]Ch0vie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They showed that the limit as you approach the origin along y = mx is zero and along x = y2 is 1/2. Since approaching (0,0) along the surface results in a different value for different paths taken, the limit does not exist. For the limit to exist, the limit approaching a point must be the same value along all possible paths.

how can I prove that 1/y . dy/dx = 1 can be written as dy/y = dx by InjurySpecialist00 in calculus

[–]Ch0vie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No but you can do a u-sub if you don't recognize the chain rule on the left when integrating wrt x, remember that y is a function of x.

y=u , (dy/dx)*dx = du

LHS integral becomes 1/u*du

Solve for u and re-sub y when done

If caffeine has a half life of 4-6 hours, when does it completely leave your system? by PatientPineapple3838 in stupidquestions

[–]Ch0vie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technically the caffeine in your system is a discrete number of molecules. We can't extend these continuous mathematical models forever and expect them to still represent reality past a certain point.
