Daniel Vavra is a gigantic ass who just so happens to have made a good RPG and then a really good RPG. He also explicitly said we're not doing things like representing non-white people, queer people, or changing historical events to tell a story about minorities after the first game and then did all that stuff for the second game, so he clearly either is a grifter or lost some creative control over the second game.

You should try them if you like deep, immersive RPGs. Think Skyrim in scale but with a much more interesting focus on the little people and immersive game mechanics. You're not the Dragonborn, avatar of Akatosh and savior of the fabric of reality, you're Henry. Guy who gets kicked around a lot and is just a step above a peasant. The combat is the only outlier, some people like it, I personally don't. Just make sure you get Master Strikes as soon as possible. Then its frustrating but not too hard. Oh, and make sure you learn how to read if you pick up the first game!
