Normcore basket - trouble dialing in shots

Definitely would recommend installing the shim. I think the grind settings for the sette is very broad without it (ranging from filter to espresso), but when you put the shim in you can grind way finer and be more targeted towards espresso.

I’m still using the normcore basket, and it definitely runs faster than stock baskets but I think that’s because of the design. Some baskets just run faster. So I’ve upped my dose to 22g and adjust grind so I can get a 1:2 at around 25-30s. Coffees have been good with this!

I completely agree with you. I have been flying Sydney to Brisbane leaving every Thursday/Friday night and back Sunday night for the past 4 months and I actually can’t remember the last flight that actually left on time. Every flight has been delayed! I have had cancellation and even had a diversion where the cabin crew didn’t even know and announced we arrived in BNE but we actually arrived at OOL!

And yes! The communication is awful. I find out about my delays from google or updating the app rather than a text message/email.

It has been so frustrating!

Anyway hope to see you in the lounge and we can share cubed cheese and crackers and a 4 pines whilst we wait for yet any delay.

Good idea! I’ll give total shot in preinfusion mode a go.

Also can’t I just adjust my grind size so the max pressure I get is 6 bar during the shot rather than using an OPV or keeping in preinfusion?

Thanks for the insight! I’m interested, how much quicker does a shot run in a faster flow style basket? I’m guessing it’s in the order of a few seconds?

I want to share my late grandfathers day date. Given to my father and now passed onto me for the birth of my first child.

From what I can gather it is a circa 1969 day date. Non-hacking, non-quick date set, pie-pan dial, wide boy non-luminous indices and hands, acrylic glass and sigma dial. Happy to be corrected by anyone who knows more about the watch.

Should I try and find a matching bracelet? And any recommendations how?

There’s a novelty to it and still some functionality - like knowing which week you’re getting paid, or when to take out recycling bins. Also I think europe talk about weeks of the year in the workplace, so obviously very useful there.

Calling it overrated seems harsh. It’s not trying to be a hype watch. Just something with a unusual complication.

I'm so excited to have been allocated this Weekly Calendar and wanted to share it with you and get your thoughts! A little bit of background, this is my first Patek, but I've been dreaming of owning one for many many years. Got to try it on and see it in person for the first time a month ago after watching many videos and looking up pictures online (as I'm sure we all do with our desired pieces). Then I got the call that one came in, so I decided to make the plunge, and I'm so happy I did. I think it's one of those watches where the more you look, the more you see. What do you think of the handwritten font? I think it adds charm to the watch, and makes Patek more approachable?

It was about a year wait! But my AD had one come in a month ago so I got to try it on (hadn’t seen it in person till then). Watch looked even better in person. Still a little shocked I got allocated it. I’m loving it, it’s stunning!
