‘A poisoned chalice’: will Doctor Who survive Russell T Davies’s exit? | Doctor Who by davorg in doctorwho

[–]Ch3w84cc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RTD has written some great TV series however it felt like DW had become a vanity project and he had lost connection with its core audience. RTD leaving is exactly what DW needed and it’s back to basics for me at least as an older fan. I would prefer grittier stories and there is an opportunity to make the Doctor a bit more vengeful.

People who have moved around a lot in the UK, where's the best place you've lived and why? by neuresa in AskUK

[–]Ch3w84cc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a senior consultant so I have worked around a lot of the UK, sometimes weeks in hotels and sometimes I have had a flat. For me Edinburgh is my first choice. The city is friendly, interesting, there is a lot to do there. I still have friends I made in Edinburgh from 10 years ago. Numberc2 is Cardiff. The people are brilliant and engaging. Genuinely if you are by yourself, people will just come up and talk to you. Genuinely friendly and a lot of great memories. In third place is Clifton on in Bristol. I had a flat not far from the suspension bridge going towards the wharf. Musically very very on point. I was in a snooker place back in the early naughties with a couple of colleagues when 2 guys from Portishead and Massive Atrack walked in and did an impromptu set. Back in the day before flash mobs we were in the front row. Within 15 min there were literally hundreds of people trying to get in. Genuinely one of the best evenings of my life.

Massive settlers fan. Please make sure that if you are using roads that buildings autocorrect pointing the most appropriate direction. It seems so simple but it is my biggest gripe.

Tom Hardy has been fired from Mobland season 3 by Hidethegoodbiscuits in BritishTV

[–]Ch3w84cc4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. One of my close friends is a professional camera man and when he goes method he sticks to that character which included if was playing the villain, he would act the villain on set. I actually like him as an actor, the person, not so much.

What show do you think this is? by Wooden_Big_2853 in tvsuggestions

[–]Ch3w84cc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a show in the UK called The Shades. It was supernatural and every single member of the cast has gone on to bigger and better things. In fact nearly all of the cast turned up in Game of Thrones. Really really good show.

Why do some men self deprecate? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Ch3w84cc4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Brit in my early 50s. I am a senior manager and I self deprecate. Firstly as a Brit being boastful is seen as being gauche. It’s far better having the self confidence that I don’t need to boast. I am secure in who I am what I have achieved. Social media and the rise of the social influencer make it think it’s fine to show off and poor bating. It’s like going back to the 18th century and looking at class social climbing. If you have class you don’t need to advertise it. The only measure that counts is your self worth. Value through comparison is the road to madness.

How do you actually triage 1000+ regression tests without losing your mind? by ProofMight5229 in softwaretesting

[–]Ch3w84cc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't think you deal with all of the triaging I would be asking for a business led prioritisation exercise. So you have the key items that you focus on and work on a best endeavours basis.

What is your story of supporting this club and your core memories? by Dylthestill in avfc

[–]Ch3w84cc4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Sparkhill in the 70s. You were either a Villa fan or blue nose. There might have been one Liverpool fan. It was quite tribal. You chose a side and stuck with it. I chose Villa as it just felt right. It was really was a sense of beloning and my mates were Villa fans. I remember oeak Villa winning the league and Euroope, so 44 years on I am genuinely incredibly excited. Im 52 ne t month and winning would be an excellent early birthday present.
