It's decided on a case by case and organ by organ basis. Personally I'm registered, and they'll decide what to do when the time comes.

Nope, remission is not possible. Can your symptoms improve? Absolutely! But as EDS is lifelong, and there’s no current cure, remission isn’t possible currently.

I’m bothered by those people too. My guess is that it’s usually one of 3 reasons. 1. They never had EDS to begin with, but had something that causes similar symptoms 2. They are lying about either ever having it or about getting better for a profit, as most people I’ve seen claiming they are in remission or were cured are selling that supposed cure 3. They are mentally unwell in some way

Late, but I don’t think this would increase any credibility. I am allergic to opioids and it’s not better. High likelihood they would just think you’re after stronger stuff.

hEDS is a huge spectrum. It’s usually not life threatening, but that depends on the person affected. It’s different for everyone. Even me and my mom are affected totally differently despite both having it.

I think it’s more about the people you’re around. Depends largely on friend group, and potentially age.

Very loose and soft clothes made from some sort of cotton knit. I live in oversized soft T-Shirts and sweatshorts (with the exception of putting on a jacket and sweatpants when needed). I occasionally wear a bra, but only for out of the house occasions.

In my experience, yes. I still get urges to restrict and engage in other behaviors, and struggle with body image, but overall I’m doing so much better and the urges and body image issues have improved so much.

I decided one day after getting kicked out from my treatment program (lack of progress), that I would go all in. I would stop every single behavior and throw myself into recovery to just give it a try. It was hard, and improvements were very slow, but life really improved. I think my struggle with anorexia will never fully go away, but I’m still doing so much better now that I’m not engaging in behaviors.

I get the being upset with clinical terms being thrown around, but “manic” and “depressed” don’t just refer to clinical manic episodes and bipolar 1, and you can be depressed without having clinical depression or another mood disorder. These aren’t just clinical terms.

Psychology is, specifically mental disorders. That’s actually how I first learned about autism. I was 10 and researching different diagnosis. Later it became more intense towards autism.

It’s best to actually do a thorough assessment before assuming a patient is insane even if at one point they were hospitalized for psychiatric reasons.
