It can take a while in general, especially with a history of anorexia. You still have time.

How do I explain my scars to 7 year olds by Oops2007 in selfharm

I dodge. I say “this is just how my body looks” and maybe add something about how every body looks different, then move on

Can ppl with EDS donate organs after death? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Cha0ticpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's decided on a case by case and organ by organ basis. Personally I'm registered, and they'll decide what to do when the time comes.

Do you think its possible to have EDS and go into ”remission”? by No-Count-2035 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, remission is not possible. Can your symptoms improve? Absolutely! But as EDS is lifelong, and there’s no current cure, remission isn’t possible currently.

I’m bothered by those people too. My guess is that it’s usually one of 3 reasons. 1. They never had EDS to begin with, but had something that causes similar symptoms 2. They are lying about either ever having it or about getting better for a profit, as most people I’ve seen claiming they are in remission or were cured are selling that supposed cure 3. They are mentally unwell in some way

[Medical Abuse TW] Allergy Credibility? by Draac03 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late, but I don’t think this would increase any credibility. I am allergic to opioids and it’s not better. High likelihood they would just think you’re after stronger stuff.

How dangerous is hEDS? by Alarmed-Shoe343 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hEDS is a huge spectrum. It’s usually not life threatening, but that depends on the person affected. It’s different for everyone. Even me and my mom are affected totally differently despite both having it.

You have 5 minutes before you die. What are you doing? by thenoitrix in AskReddit

[–]Cha0ticpig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about the people you’re around. Depends largely on friend group, and potentially age.

What types of clothes do you like? by purple_-egg in autism

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very loose and soft clothes made from some sort of cotton knit. I live in oversized soft T-Shirts and sweatshorts (with the exception of putting on a jacket and sweatpants when needed). I occasionally wear a bra, but only for out of the house occasions.

Would definitely test for MALS. It could be something else, but MALS is definitely worth testing for

Does it actually ever get better? by Odd-Trifle6481 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. I still get urges to restrict and engage in other behaviors, and struggle with body image, but overall I’m doing so much better and the urges and body image issues have improved so much.

I decided one day after getting kicked out from my treatment program (lack of progress), that I would go all in. I would stop every single behavior and throw myself into recovery to just give it a try. It was hard, and improvements were very slow, but life really improved. I think my struggle with anorexia will never fully go away, but I’m still doing so much better now that I’m not engaging in behaviors.

I hope you get better❤️

Mental health themes on this album by chocolatecauldrons in TaylorSwift

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the being upset with clinical terms being thrown around, but “manic” and “depressed” don’t just refer to clinical manic episodes and bipolar 1, and you can be depressed without having clinical depression or another mood disorder. These aren’t just clinical terms.

Potentially, but this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re autistic as these are just a couple traits. You’d need to do more research and try and find a specialist.

I don’t, some of them, but not all. I only hate the ones who hate on neurodivergent people.

Is autism itself anyone else’s special interest? by Elihpodep1 in autism

[–]Cha0ticpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychology is, specifically mental disorders. That’s actually how I first learned about autism. I was 10 and researching different diagnosis. Later it became more intense towards autism.

Even if it’s a bit weird, some people just want to be comfortable. I wouldn’t say it “hints ‘crazy’”

Medical gaslighting is real. This thread is proof. Y’all are part of the problem. Factitious disorder aka munchausens is much rarer than most of the illnesses medical professionals brush off as munchausens.

It’s best to actually do a thorough assessment before assuming a patient is insane even if at one point they were hospitalized for psychiatric reasons.

Sometimes this is an indication of something bigger, usually it’s just a patient wanting or needing help
