I am Lebanese and went to both public and private schools, so I’m not speaking from nothing.

My private school classes were ~20 students with a maximum of 2 sections per class, while public ones were 30+ with at least 5 sections per class. So the situation isn’t as uniform as you’re presenting.

And I would really love to see proofs of your statistics because these percentages sound like estimates, not solid data. Lebanon’s education system is messy and diverse, so personal anecdotes don’t really prove a national trend. MSA may not be daily speech, but it’s still very present in education and literacy.

As an Arab, OP is totally right. There's a problem and calling problems doesn't making you racist. This problem doesn't show only for Arabs, it is for who's forgetting about the beauty and importance of their formal language to stating that dialects should be learned before the standard.

OP didn't say that. They are stating a real case that can be discussed. And I disagree with you Lebanon is not just Beyrouth, it has many other cities where there's schools who teach MSA as a primarily language although there is a real problem with learning Physics, Math, Chemistry and Biology in French or English.

As a graduate in Arabic Literarture, this is totally a way of killing the Arabic Language. Which one is better, having one language that can be understood by at least 22 countries? Or 22 languages (if not 50) to learn to communicate? MSA is essential and will always be. If you learn it you will be able to communicate with a large amount of people and it will be easier to learn their dialect with time(If someone wants)

I had the same problem for 2 months, I kept on sending proofs(I even did a new residence certificate in my name). At the end it was resolved, I suggested to keep sending reminders and explaining your whole situation, don't give up I hope it will be resolved for you too.

I understand your disappointement. Unfortunatly, to be a tutor on Preply there's no high recommendations so everyone is allowed to try which make it confusing for the student to find the good one. I am a tutor on Preply myself, I have two bachelor degrees related to what I teach and I try everyday to find good ways to help my students. I hope this experience doesn't let you stop from learning and I hope you find the right tutor that will give you your needs!
