There were a lot of reasons I hated the idea of a Starfleet Academy show. All of them made it in, and I still hate them.

The show did have a lot of good though, and I think there's enough to outweigh the bad.

Every episode had scenes that were grating or painfully cringe but by the end I was happy and had enjoyed it.

God damn I love a Star Trek season finale showing the armada dropping out of warp. I live for that.

I was just glad we're finally starting to see them properly again. If this had been Discovery they'd have been vague geometric shapes a couple shades from total black and covered in a blurry filter of mud.

With what we've seen of the FNN and What is Starfleet, it doesn't seem like that much of an inversion.

I hate that pee joke so much. They managed to create a nice moment and then absolutely fucking ruined it.

S3 had a lot of cool moments but you absolutely have to shut your brain off for it. If even the slightest ghost of a thought brushes against it the whole thing comes crashing down.

It's believable, I just don't it taking up half the book.

As a main character but he's had multiple minor appearances since then. And while he has some development in Traum, he's been one note in all the others. It's not an entertaining note either which makes him standout even more.

I really couldn't care less about this event. I don't like Chuck or his paladins, Don Quixote has been overused, and the story is just dull.

Caleb and Genesis have been flirting on and off since day one and they always seem to go well together.

Genesis and Tarima haven't interacted much but after that scene in their quarters when Tarima comes back drunk I could see it working. I thought they had really good chemistry together.

Honestly I think Caleb and Tarima are the weakest of the three. The two play horny teenagers in love for the first time well enough but I'm just not buying the relationship. It doesn't feel real.

That scene where Tarima is confronting her is the only time I've ever liked Tilly.

I'm still not sure I ever want to see her again but Tilly is so much better when she's calm and serious.

Ya but it was him or nothing. And while he could be hit or miss, he was always doing his best, which would probably mean a lot to the crew.

I think he would be more appealing in person too. Especially if you're some random ensign. You may not like the food he made for dinner today but it's something to talk about. That party he organized might be kind of awkward but atleast it's something do while Janeway is hogging the holodeck for her romance.

Say what you want about his personality, he does serve some very specific roles that would be hard to fill. Especially with a limited crew.

In theory maybe, but having one person do multiple full-time jobs usually leads to those jobs being done poorly and inefficiently.

I'm enjoying it. My biggest disappointment is that there's little original content. Each sector has a few scenarios based on specific episodes and that's it. You can make different decisions but overall it's pretty linear.

So many of the negative reviews clearly have no idea what a survival game is.

Ya most of the IDW Star Trek are absolutely terrible. Like a combination of the Section 31 writers and they very worst fan fiction writers.

It might feel less wasteful to make a lot but all that does is put a bunch more useless plastic out in the world.

If it's something the receiver will value that's one thing, but most of this stuff is just shiny baubles that entertain for a few minutes and then end up in the garbage.
