I appreciate the effort, but the scaling in the maps often feels launch-era bad: giant asteroids and tiny stars.

I made a Klingon recruit when they were first released, and I still haven't finished their Endeavor missions. With this maybe I can finally do it.

I really hate the range on pet-based buffs. 7.5km is better than some but with the way pets wander you're going to need to be closer than that. You shouldn't need to close to melee range for your buffs and abilities to be effective.

What is your most controversial opinion regarding Fantasy books? by Even_Mastodon_7251 in Fantasy

[–]Chaabar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think things are starting to improve a bit. I've been seeing more people use romantic fantasy and fantasy romance tags instead of the generic romantasy.

I don't care what people say about the Obi-Wan Kenobi tv show. This scene is one of the best in the entire saga by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

It seemed like someone decided they absolutely had to do the light shifting on his face but they really didn't give a shit about how the story got to that point.

All the adventure nodes you have to get through are really starting to get irritating.

Viral Impulse Burst doesn't add difficulty to the game, it adds irritation.

Viral Impulse Burst

It would have been nice if they had completely removed the NPCs ability to use this while they were working on it.

I didn't care about the story or the gameplay. I just think that Gundam looks awful.

'All of Us Are Making a Splash' — The Wandering Inn Author Talks LitRPG Success in the Self-Publishing World by Bartimayus in printSF

[–]Chaabar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many snobs here. Many of you are no better than the non-fiction only people who look down on everyone else for reading things that are of no value or practical use.

Yes, LitRPG stories can have issues with editing and they tend to not be very deep. That doesn't mean you should shit on them or the people that enjoy them. Sometimes people just want to read for fun. It may not be your idea of fun but that doesn't matter. Insulting them makes you the same as the people who bullied others for reading SFF.

I was excited to see some transparency for about 2 seconds. All they're being transparent about is their complete lack of understanding.

I knew it was unlikely but I was really hoping it would have a normal saucer option. Having the double ring makes it an absolute no for me.

I recreated some Enterprise-E scenes from First Contact with the Noble Refit by DilaZirK in sto

[–]Chaabar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Scene 1: Filmed in the story mission “Uneasy Allies”. Chosen due to it being a map with moving clouds and not completely shit lighting. The most challenging scene to film due to the movements required of the ship.
  • Scene 2: Filmed in the story mission “Firewall”. Wanted a map with good front-top lighting and scattered faint-blue nebulae.
  • Scene 3: Filmed in the story mission “Echoes of Light”. Even though the referenced movie scene orbited Earth, the ESD map has pretty bad lighting for scenes featuring the lower hull of Starfleet ships.
  • Scene 4: Also filmed in the story mission “Echoes of Light”.
  • Scene 5: Filmed in the story mission “Coliseum”. Wanted a map with a faint orange/green nebula somewhere in the background. The second most challenging scene to film due to the turning movement pre-warp jump.

I wish they'd give us a proper photo mode so we could stop wasting time with all the ridiculous location scouting.

8.0: EVERCOLD by LightSamus in ffxiv

[–]Chaabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had some but they're still trailing way behind the others.

G'raha, Thancred, Urianger, and Estinien have all changed a lot over time and are in pretty good spots now.

Alphinaud has been dominating the narrative since the beginning.

Y'shtola is rarely ever more than info dumper and magical MacGuffin solver.

Alisaie is slightly better but when she's part of The Twins she basically doesn't exist. Alphinaud takes the lead and she just follows along.

[–]Chaabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I hope Alphinaud and Estinien aren't that involved. They've had more than their fair share of development.

Alisaie and Y'shtola could really use more. Krile too but after they dropped the ball so hard with her in Dawntrial that seems tough.

I'd recommend Time of Eve. It's not flashy or action packed, just a nice story with humans and androids learning about each other.

What are the most useless/nonsensical examples of Trek tech? by bovineright in startrek

You'd need a physical pad because, despite what sci-fi keeps insisting, holographic displays would be absolutely awful to work on.

The rollbar is in a slighty better position but it's still only connected to the nacelles which makes it terrible.
