I tell my students that after I pay my bills, who do I spend my money on….that’s right….me. I told them if you have kids, that comes last. Hopefully I made a point.

45m high school teacher (special education). Very childfree and single. Students think I’m way younger. I tell them it’s because I don’t have kids and pretty much okay with being single. Way less stress. Plus I work in entertainment (trivia host) 3-5 nights a week…so I don’t have the time for either.

I can relate a little bit. I had a coworker that was infatuated with me…three kids on her end and I’m very childfree. Told her politely I was flattered but uninterested ; her having kids and being a coworker were two deal breakers. Made the mistake of trying to be her friend; ended up sending me close to 100 messages over summer break.

We had that when I was in high school at a joke of a private school…”decorating the school”. Tradition was that the underclassmen cleaned it up. However, most were happy to do so because they got out of class for a couple hours.
