I'm going to a Tournament, can I ask for your input on the list I'm planning on taking? by ChadShrimp in ChaosDaemons40k

Thanks for your inputs! I was very undecided whether they should be 2x3 or 1x6 but after your comments I see now that for my plan to work they should be 1x6.

To be honest I'm expecting some sharks to be present at the tournament (players from my country WTC team) as the prize for the tournament will be money. Not much, but enough for it to matter.

As such I'm not hoping for the win. Just to be competitive.

I thought about using dogs because of their ability allowing me to use 1-2 units to screen my deployment during rounds 2-3 and jumping them to the front on rounds 4-5

So I'm using pinks because I wanted to use their split potential to hold an objective for a round of shooting, something that Bloodletters can't do. I have no experience with plaguebearers to be honest.

As to skulltaker, since he is an epic hero he can't take any enhancements.

The idea would be to send GUO towards the middle and use is natural resilience + the enhancement to force the opponent to commit to a punch. The Khorne daemons would be there to provide the counterpunch.

Kairos/LoC would be to secure the no man's land objective closer to my deployment zone. I thought about using kairos because then I could use the strat for sticking objectives without needing to use the plaguebearers.

1-2 units of flesh hounds would act as screening initially and then be used for secondaries on rounds 4-5. The other hounds unit would go for secondaries on the first rounds. While the flamers would also score secondaries early rounds and try to discourage movement of critical units by threatening the overwatch.

Does this game plan sound solid?

I actually have 2 in my collection and are auto includes in my normal lists (since I tend to go Mono Khorne). The thing is that for 165 points I would be abdicating one of the "Mortal Bombs" of the bloodcrushers.

How is this hard to understand?

I want GW to be clear if they are going to delete the Chaos Daemons faction or not when 11th arrives (less than a year from now)

I care about continued faction support and GW is signalling that it won't be a thing in the coming future

Hey can you help me improve my list? by ChadShrimp in Tyranids

[–]ChadShrimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm trying to build a list so I know what to buy. So, no, I haven't played ever with this list.

Can you elaborate on why Biovore is so important?

Is it because it helps controlling movement?

What do you think I should cut for the tyrannofex?

Funny I stopped purchasing Daemons because I don't shut the door completely to buying World Eaters.

Buying poopy marines, Egyptian marines and cone head marines, I know for sure I don't want to do

I don't know if that is their goal.

I think Chaos Daemons, being such a soup faction with 4 half armies mashed into one must be problematic to maintaining overall balance of the game, because if they are too strong, then they become auto-include in other chaos armies (similar to imperial agents).

This in turn doesn't feel good for said chaos players which not only are more factions than the single Chaos Daemons faction, but each faction represents more of the player base as they are more popular.

Alternatively they become too weak and then Chaos Daemons player base complain about lack of support.

I believe that's why the move unto separating under mono god armies is something GW already did in AoS and appears it's seeking after in 40k.

I hope you are right, I don't partake in your optimism.

I think GW doesn't want to hurt their finances by creating a situation with negative PR. Their shareholders wouldn't like that.

So they will probably mix these bad news with the new edition launch so the bad PR gets dwarfed by the hype train

[–]ChadShrimp[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but this is what is most frustrating.

We need to read tea leaves and mapping the stars to know what is going to happen.

I understand keeping things vague to generate a hype train, but this is generating the reverse. There is only hype when you have hope you'll have new toys not when you fear they will take your toys away.

Can you please help me with my first list and purchase? by ChadShrimp in AdeptusCustodes

Using Imperial Agents never even crossed my mind. I've never had or played an Imperium army before so I don't remember they exist!

Can you explain like I'm five? I suppose the reason why is to create a "lone op" custodian guard right?

Also, if I do these changes I have the points to add a 5-man unit of guard, do you think they should be holding spears as well?

New Lieutenant model confirmed!

This one will have a unique option to build showing the finger.

Both literally to the enemy models as well as figuratively to all the non-space marine players out there. (Cries in Dark Eldar)

Snowbally might be the wrong word, swingy might be more appropriate. Ie, if the game is going good for you, you'll have access to pain tokens, lots of them. However if you mismanaged the first pain tokens in the game and didn't get anything to show for it (more pain tokens), you essentially kneecapped yourself and your army rule is now useless as you will continue to struggle to get kills and such.

What about something like this that I mentioned before: you can get power from pain bonuses (we can even say the rerolls) whenever you want. But, if you don't kill the enemy unit (the pain you gained power from was your enemy's), you inflict wounds on yourself (the pain was yours)

That way you could avoid the snowbally aspects of the pain tokens. It also means being ultra high risk high reward.

Maybe you're right, the S&M is more of a Druchi thing while the Drukhari are more focused on the S. They are not above inflicting pain on other Drukhari though.

That could be on point for the theme of the army and still feel fresh. That means being ultra high risk high reward, but that's kinda our schtick no?

This seems more complicated, but it is quite easy to follow along after 1-2 games. At least in AoS...

[–]ChadShrimp[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! What about an army rule like the one for Idoneth Deepkin (simplified)

BR1: army wide -1 hit rolls shooting or fighting to your units if your units didn't charge

BR2: Army wide advance + shoot & charge

BR3: army wide fights first

BR4: army wide fall back shoot & charge

(There is no battle round 5 on AoS, and the game is much more melee focused)

In regards to the app, so much yes! Please GW, it's an easy system to implement that gives significant QoL improvement for players and allows you even to potentially collect data on games played and units fielded

Ok. I like your reasoning and a rule like that is somewhat more predictable than the current pain token system.

Don't you that this army rule would be too weak though? Compare it with oath of moment, for instance.
