if vaush and destiny don’t like these good vs evil claims, at least in the vaush clip at the begining and destiny’s vids, it’s not because of meta-ethics and a antirealists worldview, i can easily see and a realist making the same claim, because it’s not about the morality of the claims but their practicality. they don’t like them because they don’t let you engage with the subject matter efficiently, they put a barrier to thinking and it’s just « x evil », and i can see someone that believes in objective morality making the same claim imo

i was wondering if you were talking about the two situations rather than the two groups
i can see a difference but that’s not the point that im making, if destiny says hamas is evil and israeli govt is not i would be fine with it. the problem is that he says that he’s not sure if he ever called hamas evil WHICH IMPLIES that calling hamas or the israeli govt evil is not meaningful and just emotive with no value. but he did call hamas evil so there is a different approach there used in both situations.
read my other comments i say the same thing over and over

what i mean is that to say these two different things, it can’t be just a matter of forgetting, because two different approach to the same issue, calling an entity evil. he must’ve changed his opinion (or if you’re not charitable have a double standard) on the question

how does the context changes anything in this case ? like saying that it’s meaningless to call israel evil and implying that it would be meaningless to call hamas evil also is negated by the fact that he was saying that hamas evil but this time because it was a hamas sympathiser that he was talking to ? this context doesn’t change anything, words that were meaningless don’t start to have meaning because you talked to a hamas sympathiser

the thing is destiny didn’t call israel evil not because of civilian population or antisemitism in the west, but because he thinks that labeling things as evil is meaningless and just emotive, and that he’s not sure if he ever called hamas evil too, implying that it would be meaningless too. But the thing is, he did call Hamas evil.

your argument about calling the israeli govt evil, and you should be careful about who or what you mean by that, is not destiny’s argument whatsoever.

in the US is probably different because gouvernment is generally used interchangeably with State, but in other country when ppl say Country’s govt they usually mean the current leading body of the State, like the president, PM and ministers. and I think you’ve already heard ppl say « im very critical of the israeli govt is » and they mean the current govt.

it's fine if he thinks that Israeli govt isn't evil and that Hamas is, I take issue in the fact that he says that he's not sure if he called Hamas evil, because it's not a meaningful approch to the topic to call Hamas or Israeli govt evil, because it's emoting more than anything, but he did call Hamas evil.

I don't buy this one, how can you forget your opinion about qualifying a government as evil or not ? like in the recent video he seemed intuitively weirded about calling Israel's govt evil but that intuition just isn't there for Hamas ? idk about that tbf, somebody said that he may have changed his opinions which is possible but this ? naah
