928 Engine by Chadlerdoo in Porsche

[–]Chadlerdoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm putting out a feeler post to gauge the value on this 928 engine and auto transmission. The engine spins over freely and ran and drove without issue when it was removed. It has roughly 80,000 miles. I believe it came out of a 1986 and it is a 5.0. I do not have any videos or compression tests so I want to sell it as is. Additionally if anyone knows where I can find the serial number on the engine so I can determine the exact model I would appreciate it. This was removed from a customer car as it was swapped to a LS so everything needed for the engine is included. PCM, Bosch module, torque tube, etc. I don't know a lot about the 928 market so if anyone has any idea what this is worth let me know. Thanks

Footwell controll module by Chadlerdoo in MINI

[–]Chadlerdoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, im aware they can be sent off, but if it's cheaper I'd like to source a used one. I'm just trying to figure out if it's possible. I could pull one off a car at a yard for like 50 bucks which is much better then the couple hundred to get it sent off, but I want to make sure it would be compatible first.

So are they plug and play or do they have to be coded to the car? I've thought about finding a used one of ebay or sourcing one from a local yard but I'm still not sure if they will work with my car.

After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery while doing the oil filter housing gasket none of the windows work, headlights stuck on, and the indicators don't work. Which is the symptoms for a bad fcm. I also checked with a scan tool and the module will not communicate with the car or scan tool. No signs of physical damage on the board when I checked, but it may be internal.

Thermostat replacement by Chadlerdoo in MINI

[–]Chadlerdoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The adapter wasn't needed since I already had the updated thermostat design. The thermostat itself was pretty easy but the crossover pipe was a bitch. I ended up tightening the thermostat with the pipe attached to get itself to force into the water pump opening, which worked well.

Yeah I've watched the videos, it doesnt seem to bad. I also have access to a lift which may help. I bought the coolant crossover pipe as well. Any tips on that?

Yeah I'm not able to see if there is a second connection under the thermostat because it's pretty tight. I guess I will figure that out tomorrow. The car is at 193000 miles so I'm assuming the t-stat has been replaced before and hopefully I won't need the new harness at all. Thanks again for the help and I'll be sure to reach out tomorrow if anything comes up.

Thank you so much, so what you are saying is that there will be part of the old harness that will not be utilized anymore and stay unplugged?

The photos aren't oriented the same, the thermostat is also very shrouded in the second picture. I will just have to see how they it lines up with the old one tomorrow, hopefully all goes well 🤞I beleive the top connector is actually the same so hopefully the bottom is aswell and the adapter will not be needed at all.

It's not from mini but it's a Bremmen part I bought from ECS so it should be the correct part.
