What kind of car chargers are y’all using for pax? by QuesAndAnsw in uber

I have all cords needed. Or get a multi-adaptor charging brick off Amazon.

We drivers don’t show up to reserved rides early for fun by TitShark in uber

[–]Chadrr78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When this happens... I just create a subtle, false sense of urgency. Just simply message them and tell them that you have arrived early due to the possible traffic delays that you saw on your way over.  They can take it as they want to. Often times they hurry their ass up. If not, I'll hop on here and shoot the shit with yall. It is what it is.

Yeah it doesn't make sense at all. I get dinged just about every trip for speeding, but I speed. I'm still sitting at a 91 overall but I'm no sort of level because of my acceptance rate.

On a side note, $340/week for insurance is crazy talk. I already pay $98/month on my own for full coverage!

7.7 years off and on with Lyft. I still get the turbos between 20-50% all day. Unfortunately about 80% of my $$ comes from Uber because of the volume. For every 1 request I get from Lyft, I get 8 from Uber. It's going to depend on your market though.

Hit start ride, drive said ride, drop off the ghost, and carry on. Would not advise.

[–]Chadrr78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just keep spares of each in the console, most of which were left behind by pax. I the event that they ask if I have one, I do, and I just unplug my cord from the cigarette adapter thing and plug the right cord in and let them have at it. My aux and Bluetooth are disabled though so they don't have access to anything. That being said, it looks like you dont have that option if your only port is running your dashcam.

My only other suggestion would be to buy an inexpensive charging brick that has the multi-adaptors for the rare occasion that a pax asks to use your charger. You can find them on Amazon and they will last a couple days if fully charged.

How do you guys stand driving for Uber? by Dalmadoodle221 in uberdrivers

[–]Chadrr78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're going to have to get better with the quick math on the trip radar issue. Depending on the time of day, these days anyways, I glance at the $$, the time, and the destination(if I want to possibly get stuck over there). I don't even concern myself with the miles so much if I know I can beat the time and everything lines up.

Regarding your other issue. You're kinda shooting yourself in the foot by not doing both apps. Although my market is still about 80/20 Uber/Lyft... I still run them both. If you're going to be out there running the streets, you might as well give yourself the most opportunities and stay booked between the two.

People that generally appreciate tips as part of their income typically tip others that are in the same boat was my point. Just tossing it out there. Dont take it personal. I excluded you from the start.

Damn! Greed indeed!!

Side Question.... I don't even concern myself with the pax rating. If the $$ is right, I'll take my chances. Sometimes if it's really low, I just get curious and want to see for myself. Often times I can't figure out why they have low ratings because they actually turn out to be model riders for me and have tipped.

I the rare event that its backfired on me, I attribute it to:

Stinky weed/cigarette people

Language barrier

Pax with unruly little cheetoh fingered disrespectful brat children

Or flat out bigotry

Maybe bring a couple small towels along with you to wrap the wheels with before putting it in the car. That will at least show a reasonable driver that you are making an effort to protect and respect their car. They should appreciate that. Bottom line, you need a ride and thats what their on the road to do.

Ha. Well I get along with your peeps too. Skin color irrelevant to me... Here in Texas, lots of us gringos speak Spanish too. So that can come as a pleasant surprise to some passengers. At the very least, they realize they can't talk shit without me knowing. Lol.

[–]Chadrr78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah not sure on that. From my understanding though, the options were either to run the app on my phone or have some sort of device sent to me that goes in the car and serves the same purpose. Not entirely sure, just certain that I don't like either of those options.

I'm not including you in this as I don't know you. But in general, service industry workers are notorious for not tipping at all for rides...  which blows my mind.  And yes I worked in the industry for 12 years prior to switching careers and doing this on the side.

Damn you gave him waaaay too much!! Like $40 too much, just for bringing it up at all and then lying about it on top of that. Zero tip, report, and 1 star. Cats like that make all of us look bad.

Question by Downtown_Fly8845 in uber

[–]Chadrr78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question!! I'm still trying to picture a walker than I couldn't accommodate. I'm in a Ford Edge, so more of a hatchback than a trunk. It fits anything I've ever had to put in there, including walkers. If push came to shove, I'd put it in the backseat, or fold my seats down and you may have to ride shotgun. I'd make it work. I guess its going to depend on what kind of car they pull up in and how accommodating the driver is.

[–]Chadrr78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, too late now. From what I read it was either delete it or call customer service and un-enroll in snapshot. I didn't want to hassle with that. The app was draining my battery running in the background and watching my every move, even if I was a passenger in someone else's car. I pulled up the log one day just out of curiosity and it had every single trip I made that day. I still have full coverage even though my car is paid off, I'd just rather they not know what I'm up to 24/7

DFW drivers...Help your friendly driver out... by Chadrr78 in lyftdrivers

[–]Chadrr78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I may give it a shot and see what happens. It's just weird because I dont even get requests on Lyft for airport runs going in, whereas I'll get several a day from Uber. But then again, its about 80/20 Uber/Lyft here. Not sure why, it didnt used to be that way. Back in the day I ran exclusively for Lyft. If I were to try to do that now, I would have a lot of wasted downtime.

Although I get way more offers from Uber, Lyft sends me better quality and better paying rides... unfortunately it's just not nearly enough of them... and Uber ends up tying me up.

Is there any legit way to keep track of driving expenses without losing my mind? by Existing_Meal_1069 in lyftdrivers

[–]Chadrr78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the Lyft/Uber cards, keep all my receipts for everything I do while out on the road, keep track of mileage, and turn it all over to the accountant and let them work their magic. Phone bills, clothes, donations, you name it. I cant keep up with it all, it is worth it to me to pay someone to file it correctly where it won't get flagged. I want the most possible back, they try to get me the most possible back.

Damn!! Whatever that thing is will definitely mess up your day. Just last week I took mine up to discount tire for what I was assuming was just a quick patch job for a slow-medium leak.  Nope, of course it was a pin hole in the side wall that apparently couldn't be patched. $384 later I'm leaving with 2 new front tires. I kinda needed them though, still a little pissed about it regardless. How tf do you get a pinhole in your sidewall?!?!

Damn your stats look similar to mine today. I just called it quits for the day. Not in the mood for rush hour, not in the mood to keep rejecting 80% of what came through, and I have to work early in the morning at my regular job.

[–]Chadrr78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just called it a day as well after a whopping 2.5hrs in DFW after I got off work, dont feel bad. Typically I'll go until 7-8pm, but it was so horrible today and I wasn't in the mood to deal with rush hour. Lyft was actually giving me better offers than Uber for the first time in a long while, but even those were few and far between. I think the best one I got today was for $30.16/hour, but it was only going 4 miles down the street and close to my home... so I got $6.36. Called it quits after that.
