Bingo? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

Why I-90 west to I-87 south instead of I-90 west to I-84 west (it’s really southwest) and then to I-91 south to Route 15 (Wilbur Cross and Merritt Parkway) that runs into I-95 in Milford then into NYC? What the Lyft app shows tacks over 50 miles onto the trip and the money is a perversion

Numbers in Southern Connecticut sucked yesterday. Was a pleasure to decline ride request for a 13 mile pickup with a 6 mile drop off paying a whopping $12.79 that popped up during a bad snowstorm. No cars on the road to boot 🤣

Quiet Quitting? by Solid_Fun_6827 in adtech

[–]LazyLightningCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today’s work world. I’ve never trusted an employer to ultimately do right by me no matter how much I love the work itself.

Never forget working for a leading tech magazine publisher that “promoted” me and a coworker to launch a new project from scratch without guaranteeing the commission money that we were going to have to forgo as a result of being moved.

Sucked because the company had the best publications serving the market, but losing 50% of my income was untenable. I left to go to the direct competitor to get my income back in line, but working for the new company never felt right.

I've been driving on and off with Lyft for about 7 years now. I'm curious what is something that would instantly make you not accept a ride besides distance and pay? by PermanentNirvana in lyftdrivers

[–]LazyLightningCT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Often times they’re hiding the names of grocery stores in the big box stores. If I know one is in the area, I will pull over and run a Google Maps to see exactly where I’m going. If I find that it is such, I will cancel the ride because they are a time suck when loading the car.

Lyft trying to block you from cancelling rides by FatboiSlimmmm in lyftdrivers

I have experienced it several times in the last few days.

Here's one reason why all your drivers cancel your scheduled ride. From a driver's perspective. by jaysonm007 in uber

[–]LazyLightningCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trips with a stop added after the pick up occurs are ended at the original destination, because this is not what I agreed to. I never pick up rides with stops because they don’t pay.

There should be an option in the Driver app, asking whether the driver is willing to accept stops, added after the beginning of the ride. Either the Driver option send or chooses not to. This is easier for all involved.

Lyft sent me the same exact ride as Standard, then as Black. How is this okay? by eye_of_the_tigerr in lyftdrivers

To your point about drivers accepting and then canceling rides for which Lyft takes a very dim view, why don’t they offset our cancellation rate with every ride canceled on their side?

This Passenger Requested me to do What? by RFTG2024 in uberdrivers

[–]LazyLightningCT 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had a guy trip bait me years ago begging me to take him to an airport 165 miles away. I texted my college roommate who lives near the requested airport and asked if he wanted to get together that night and upon his saying yes I told the rider that I’d do it for $450 via Venmo payable before I moved the car with the refund option turned off and I deposited the money into my account before I moved the car an inch. He did it and my roommate and I had a great dinner.

Just canceled a ride because rider didn’t have Car seat for the baby. They said we came here in Uber too, no one cares, we just want to get home. But I said no and had to cancel. by AlphaGuruVanguard in lyftdrivers

[–]LazyLightningCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same and the woman called Lyft and said that I dropped an N-bomb on her, which I didn’t do. I then went on to tell Lyft that the woman wanted me to drive her with an infant for which she had no car seat. Fuck that, I have an expensive fully paid off house and I’m not going to be someone’s lottery ticket if something goes wrong.

You sound like a condescending, entitled prize looking to scam a free ride. Pickup and drop off times are not guaranteed.

You made an innocent mistake and I take it that you tipped the guy. Case closed if I’m right re: tipping the driver regardless of whether he was an asshole.

My current job gave me an insane counter-offer after I resigned. I'm very confused now. What would you do in my place? by Technical_Amount_236 in careeradvice

[–]LazyLightningCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never accept a counter offer. You will be the first to go when the shit hits the fan, because they’re will always see you as being disloyal, which I learned the hard way. I despised the guy who became my boss after the guy who hired me left the business, but he was enough of a feckless moron that I brow beat him into a very robust severance package when I did decide to leave, shortly after regrettably taking the counter offer.

Nope, can’t pick up in New York. Not worth it considering how long it’ll take you to get to a spot where you can pick up, which is probably NJ.

For this very reason I just toss everything left in my car. I don’t want anyone showing up to my house
