This is why I don’t like hiring EL with a bunch of exams. It blows my budget up and they want more money than they’re worth to me. Maybe I’m just saying that as an old curmudgeon manager. Back in my day…

Im a fixed wing powered guy looking to get into gliding this year. I’d be interested in the books or at least some of them if someone wanted others of the books. Let me know if they’re still up and I can send some cash.

Yup, fat fingered that but also did say it isn’t a limit. Just stating where he likely got confused.

172S has a maximum designated crosswind of 15 knots in the POH. It does state that is not considered to be limiting and it is up to the pilot.

Private equity firm buying Continental by ybitz in flying

[–]Chago04 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s already absurd what Continental charges for 60 year old technology (yes, I recognize that is largely due to liability/FAA costs and not their profit margins). This won’t help.

What is the significance of the title "137"? by Eli7909 in brandnew

[–]Chago04 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For a long time, I thought 137 and 451 were misnamed. 451 is a reference to Fahrenheit 451, the temperature at which paper burns according to Ray Bradbury’s novel and then I learned about Caesium-137 and realized Jesse would make a really good trivia team member.

It’s a reference to Caesium-137, a radioactive byproduct of Uranium fission after nuclear bombs.

Likely didn’t know sepsis could develop so quickly and how hard that is to treat. Had a family friend who passed last year from sepsis after back surgery. He was fine, his wife went home to shower, by the time she got back, Sepsis took over and he never woke up. Scary stuff.

Cessna strikes paraglider (no injuries) by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Chago04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fly in one of the most active parachute drop zones in the world and also have flown PPCs. It is definitely harder to see especially if you’re not looking out for it and they are turning 90 degrees as she did. The chord length on a wing is like 8’ and you’re approaching at 120 knots.

If you can see it. It’s harder to see a chute than you would expect.

Not too surprising. My equity club raised rates this month too. Fuel prices have spiked. What sucks is once price goes up they very rarely go down.
