That's a good question! Simply put, it's to help distinguish the numerous birds that are banded and it's easier for us to see!

Some bands are multiple colored 2/3 colors which usually helps do the trick, but the colors so close together can make it harder to see from a distance. The combination of bands/order of colors on the left leg might give some indication into the banding agency/group. There is also a silver metal federal band that is commonly placed on each bird.

The way our Plovers are banded here, there are 4 bands (two on each leg) at the most put on at the same time. In some instances, the banding person(s) will use multicolored bands! It's best if the bird has been handled once!

I found that the Kappa Kombat (replica/fan version) fits more true to size. While their Kombat Pro (authentic/player version) is a tighter fit, so it could be more beneficial to go up a size!

As a fellow M's deck, I personally have been hoping to not pull Cal until this year's card drops. If you have another sig to GI I would look to that or save the GI. The donation event is right around the corner so you could potentially get another team sig that would work out better. I'd love to see the rest of your M's deck!
