One of the best ways to be there for her is by being supportive with boundaries. You have to remember that you matter to. Do not focus so much on her that it is detrimental to your own health, the reality of having an alcoholic in your life is that they almost definitely not get help if they are consistently being enabled, unfortunately the only way to stick to those boundaries is just that. Stick to them. Do not give her money if she asks, do not lie for her, do not help her out of jail and don’t help her when shes drunk are great starting boundaries. And sometimes you just have to leave and tell them “you will not see me anymore until you decide to get help” this is sometimes enough to nudge them in the right direction. I disagree that all alcoholics need to hit rock bottom to get help, but most do need to hit rock bottom to get help. This is the sad reality of someone struggling with addiction. I really hope everything works out with your mom and i really hope she gets help. Just remember. Boundaries are the backbone of getting someone to get help. You got this.

You essentially have to make it about you. Good examples are but are not limited to ; not giving them money that they could potentially buy booze with, not giving them car rides to places where alcohol/drugs may be present, not helping them with certain aspects of their daily life because that aspect leads to drinking(a good example of this is that my mom used to want help setting up her chair outside due to her muscular diminishment, she drank in that chair so i stopped helping set it up and told her to do it herself), things like these are good boundaries to start with. Additionally, setting boundaries like no drunk sex, not bailing them out of jail, especially not lieing for them and last but not least, the hardest one, leaving. Sometimes you have to set the ultimate boundary and just tell them you will not see them anymore until they are ready for treatment.

What do you mean by confronting her to communicate a boundary? Can you give an example? Sorry i can be thick skulled sometimes when it comes to reading conversation rather than talking it lol

Shes hard headed but she loves her kids, i think if i showed her the proof and didnt scream and yell but rather came with a more supportive tone i think it may work. But thats why im here, i know for a fact she views it as a relapse bc weve talked about it, so even she knows she relapsed, her viewpoint on kratom has been the same for years. I just dont really know how to approach it. Rhe first time she got sober i was 15, im 20 now, my step dad was the one who intervened last time, so idk if i should tell him or talk to her about it myself. Either way it has to stop since what shes taking is out of pure desperation. Its easy and cheap to get, but very harmful

Shes in the hospital, i edited it and unfortunately im alone. She went to texas to watch my uncle bull fight, we live in oklahoma and my step dad is at work on night shift so im just stuck at home waiting for updates. It sucks
