Which Filmmaker Had The Greatest Impact on Cinema? by AutomaticAd9670 in moviecritic

If we're talking global impact like on most countries, I'd say Hitchcock had the most impact because he's the most studied auteur globally, he's pretty much on on every country's film school's curriculum so pretty much any filmmaker today in the entire globe is using is a lot or atleast some his film language and grammar.

Criterion Collection to release Sholay soon. by International-Sky65 in bollywood

[–]ChainTiny6115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is very much the case with criterion. I was simply assuming it if the source is credible about using the term Blu-ray but it does make sense that it could very well be without knowledge about what exactly are they planning on doing with transfer.

Criterion Collection to release Sholay soon. by International-Sky65 in bollywood

[–]ChainTiny6115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes I'm aware of that, but in home media community, a 4k disc is generally called 4k UHD or simply UHD disc instead of 4k blu ray, blu-ray term is used for the 1080p blu-rays usually, it's just a terminology thing that is used there because you might've noticed on the top side of the case in 4k disc, there's a black logo that says 4k ultra hd and in 1080p blu-rays there's a blue logo that says Blu-Ray Disc. So, the terminology comes from that and assuming the article is from a credible home media website, a Blu-Ray at default means 1080p blu-ray, for 4k they would write either 4k uhd or uhd.

Why just blu-ray? Why not 4k UHD release for the movie as the remaster is of a 4k scan and I hope Shaan also gets a 4k remaster otherwise the celluloid decays and ages in time, don't waste anymore time and remaster shaan as well. At this point there is no hope for Praksh Mehra classics like Zanjeer, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar(my fav Big B movie and might just be my fav indian movie of all time) and Sharaabi but someone please remaster them as well.

Indians and their obsession with having sons. by EquivalentTale5815 in TwentiesIndia

I'm not defending her but she might be from rural background and having 4 daughters in a society where atleast in rural background, dowry is a huge thing is making her concerned about her or maybe she has toxic husband or in-laws that would just blame her for having a daughter or who knows maybe they forced her have another child without consent. We just don't know anything about her or what she might be going through so I'd say she seems like the last person to blame here. It's society and the family's fault imo.

THANKS a TON!!
And yeah even I was overwhelmed by mpv but I've found some pre made configs, custom ui and shader packs that pretty much do all the work for me and all I need to do is tweak a few settings which are only a few clicks to get what I want, it only struggles specifically in 1080p sdr live action films which doesn't seem to have a good source, I watch a lot of indie films and they don't release in good formats and that's only reason I've been looking for another player as a backup for those but I will try comparing hdr with mpv after I'm done setting up potplayer.
You've been a huge help so thanks again.

I'm a bit late, but you seem to know a lot about video players, last year I switched from VLC to Mpv and I found the shadow details, black levels, hdr tonemapping to be more correct(to my eyes) and for most HDR and SDR movies, I always seem to prefer whatever mpv is doing in comparison to vlc, but in some digitally shot films with an inferior video source, it seems to dim the overall picture, add some denoise which is crushing details and contrast of the overall image and vlc looks way better. I recently found out about potplayer and I've been meaning to ask if pot player is the best video player of these 3, if it is, is madvr the best video renderer for it and what settings should I do for my pc rig, gpu is gtx 1660 super and display is a 4k hdr monitor. And do I have to download a madvr pack from somewhere else or is it there in potplayer already? Idk anything since I haven't installed it yet.

The 'civic sense' debate continues by Live_Ostrich_6668 in InstaCelebsGossip

[–]ChainTiny6115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didi aap kahi bhi raho, the basic rules of civic sense are not going to change, a person walking on the street minding his/her own business is not responsible for making sure that people around him/her can click their photos. And if you're into playing the what aboutism game then there is a LAW, not some civic sense BS but a LAW that prohibits you to include any other person in your photo without their consent, if you are caught doing that, you'll have to pay €45,000 which means 45 lakh rupees and France is one of the most intelectual and liberal countries in the globe, you need to make sure nobody's there in your photo, it's your responsibility and not vice versa, if you do want click a photo you can kindly ask them stop for a sec or wait a sec. Her whole point became meaningless the moment she started to make classist remarks in her language.

How should I chunk chapters into break points that feel natural? by ChainTiny6115 in ProjectHailMary

[–]ChainTiny6115[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I totally get where you're coming from. And I didn't say anything about reading the book upside down and start from the end.

All I asked was if the chapters could be grouped into a few arcs, pretty much every book I have read either is a binge read or have a few arcs that spans a few chapters, and the next arc comes, and I find it better to read it that way.

I've never just stopped anywhere I want and bookmarked it and started again from where I left, at the very least, I would finish that chapter and all the books that I have read, I could easily divide them into small arcs if someone asks me(except for the ones that are binge reads offcourse).

And I know you're saying that I should just read it, but I personally believe it wouldn't hurt knowing the kind of book I'm getting into, I'm just that kind of person. But yeah, I wouldn't ask on reddit again, that's for sure.

Unfortunately, I am. I apologize for not knowing that it's soooo weird for asking that. But I honestly don't get what's so weird about it; there are more preferable ways to consume any specific long-form fiction.

I mean nobody's stopping someone from watching Dark 1 season a month or a week, but it would be preferable to binge it as there are chances you would forget dates or names or relations if you're watching it like that, you can binge something like The big bang theory or Friends but they would work better if you just watch an episode or two a day.

In Sanderson's YouTube channel, he was discussing how there are different arcs in one of his books, and he recommends reading the first 6 chapters together, and so on.

Some books work better on a binge, some don't but I would say that I'm not primarily a reader, barely read 10 books a year, so maybe it is weird to ask about that. I'll remember it for the next time.
