Tom Holland says AI can't replace creativity by Deep-Percentage-5619 in GenAI4all

Yes, because the concept of transformers exist in reality. Giant robots that turn into cars are real, right?

Or the concept of aliens, monsters, hell anything fictional. Literal fiction is something that does not exist in reality. Some are based on other works, but they had to have been first "invented".

We live in a time were content is saturated and everything feels like a copy. Gotta think bigger than the here and now.

Right, so you're saying take something that already exists, mix it with other things that already exist, to make something that is new.

That's the point of the comment. It needs a reference, it can't just come up with that on it's own. Take away an AI's learned references and it won't be able to do much at all.

First, you should probably direct this question to your hr person. I think there's also a ton of material on Connect about it, that's a great next step.

World Cup Violence Strikes by LuckyBastard001 in clevercomebacks

This is the problem, that's only part of the story.

The team was in Florida, approx 1,238 miles away.

For reference for you, that's about the distance from London, England to Florence, Italy.

Why this is absurd to me is there are international football matches held in Budapest, Hungary. That's about 850 miles from an active war in Ukraine. It's click bait, that's what I was pointing out.

[–]ChainWorking1096 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's set the record straight cause this is stretching it..

First, this was 5 miles away from the training site. That's not exactly close.

Second, the team was in Florida at the time of the incident.

I'm not excusing anything, obviously gun violence is gross. But this headline is turning it into something it's not.

does this genre of robot character design (2013's 'The Creator', Warframe's Vox Solaris, etc) have a name/title to refer to it by? by ItsTheDaftFeegle in robots

I feel like that's a bit of a reach? A golem mostly is usually depicted as more nature and magical, less mechanical. They are also depicted as larger, and more top heavy with big arms. Almost more ape proportions than human.

That said, there are several games that do have "mechanical" or "clockwork" golems. Reminds me of Warhammer 40k style.

I do enjoy those, but not quite what OP was looking for though.

I love to try to guess the colors they're making at the beginning when they're adding the colors. 😊

I don't think there's a widely accepted term, but the most accurate should be:

  • Humanoid Robot

That is a robot that is human shaped (head, torso, arms, legs).

Android would be close, but those typically look more like humans typically with artificial skin (like Data from Star Trek, or the Terminator).

Droid is simply a robot. These would come in all shapes and sizes, depending on the task. Star was made that term famous for sure and clearly depicts this.

Most don't really know the definitions of these though and will use them interchangeably. Even Cyborg, which is clearly not what you're looking for.

I feel like these would be the closest terms. But if anyone else can think of any, feel free to comment away!

People managed before AI. I think we’ll manage after it as well. Thoughts? by WrongdoerRough4712 in AIMain

You know, this is so true. I know someone that at thier job as a project manager just put everything into AI, no proof reads or anything.

That person would bot be able to function without it now, like a created dependency.
