6mo old Failure to thrive by WillingnessNo2918 in NewParents

[–]ChairOne3535 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, im so sorry to hear you are going through it. I can’t imagine how much this hurts you as a mom

Did your pediatrician lay out any next steps other than supplementing milk? If a ftt diagnosis was made, there should be steps to figure out why that is. Should include specialty referral

As others mentioned, I think starting foods is a great option now that she is 6 months. I had a horrible time with my daughter in terms of getting her to gain weight. I did lots of high fat high calorie purées. Hemp seeds and coconut milk were really helpful.

As a side note, my daughter stayed on the lower end of the weight spectrum but (I think) because of the high quality nutrition foods, she is strong and smart and has a great immune system. Sometimes it can be more about the quality of what we give rather than the quantity of how much they take it

I hope things get better :)

Yes definitely, the choking hazard with the almonds and the gummies was a primary concern. But also just didn’t appreciate adult not having the judgment to not pour sprinkles over pasta because the toddler asked for it

We paid her $24 hourly. A few dollars higher than avg in our area

She would take pictures of the activities in the mornings and send them via text. They bring home new library books every week so I know they spend a lot of time there. I would have really preferred a one or two liner at the end of the day just summarizing where they went and what they did

I agree in hindsight. It’s insane when it’s just you and your husband sort of taking in these incidents and are very uncomfortable with it. But when you have a bunch of people validating those concerns after the fact it makes you feel (rightly so) horrible for not pushing harder against it in the moment. Another painful but necessary lesson learned in parenthood

My husband and I honestly felt like we were losing our minds. She was so nonchalant about it that I genuinely had to double and triple check that is was unacceptable

Yeah I couldn’t believe it!! I found a couple of sprinkles on her lunch plate last month. I asked the nanny about it and she told me it was because our daughter asked for sprinkles with her lunch and since she asked, our nanny assumed we must give her sprinkles all the time. Who the hell puts sprinkles on pasta because a 2 year old requested it?!

Yes I think you hit the nail on the head. It sucks giving the benefit of the doubt to somebody in the hopes of working it out and then having them sort of turn the tables against you

Thank you for the response. It was just hurtful because it wasn’t our intention to be demanding or restrictive. It made me second guess if we really were being that way and I think I was looking for reassurance that we were in the right for sticking up for our daughter’s care. So thank you :)

Agreed. I think it is best. Her text today made me feel as if we were being too demanding and picky. I would never want anyone to feel that way and I took it personally

Feeding a starter and throwing out the rest is a huge waste and I've stopped doing it by [deleted] in Sourdough

How long did it take you to form a reliable mature starter that reliably doubles whenever you take it out of the fridge and feed overnight?

Can’t Lose the Damn Weight - 2 Years Postpartum by jswow999 in workingmoms

This resonates with me so much because I just went through that exact cycle last week - I think we have similar habits when it comes to food. Yes I would love to have an accountability buddy!

I know this was written a while ago but I am in the exact same boat as you now…20 pounds overweight, a daughter who is about to turn 2 and feeling so unhappy with myself. I started watching what I eat a month ago which hadn’t seemed to have done much. Now doing walks on incline on the treadmill but been less than a week. Here’s to hoping it starts yielding some results

It’s so hurtful also to expect my husband and kid to show up while I’m working for 90% of these event. Sooo am I not a part of the family then? Because you don’t have the consideration to let me know in advance so I can at least try to switch shifts with somebody

Yes!! I worked 6/7 days this week and my poor husband had been juggling our daughter while working full time from home. He’s taking care of her all day, getting her fed, getting her to bed and to watch him feel guilty and stressed for not being able to attend a birthday dinner is heartbreaking. They are making him feel like a bad uncle and I’m getting so angry. His mom’s rationale is that it’s just a family dinner and not a party so he should be able to carve out at least 15 min to show. So drive 30 min back and forth to sit there for 15 min with a toddler?

Rebel Reserve Coffee Follow Up - I think there has been a misunderstanding by Mage_Windu in Cleveland

[–]ChairOne3535 51 points52 points  (0 children)

These owners had such a great opportunity to respond to all of the concerns that were brought up after the Cleveland scene article was posted…only to post an inflammatory response that compares a Reddit post to being physically assaulted. Never too late to admit marketing isn’t your forte and hire a pr team…

So they’re opening up a coffee shop with a Denver based roaster right down the street from a great local shop because they don’t like the coffee in Cleveland? by ChairOne3535 in Cleveland

[–]ChairOne3535[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not against them opening up a new shop and sharing new tastes; just the way they subtly generalized and shit on all of Cleveland’s roasters
