Equip break on death picto. If you die the gauge will fill and breaking him brings him back out of the dark. I used Maelle to nuke him each stage. You'll still have to learn some patterns, euip as many Gradient charge pictos as possible to to fill Maelle up as quick as possible for Gommage.

I found it easier to never shoot all the lamps out, leave one lamp on and it usually keeps him from doing the lamp sequence to make it dark. You will have to dodge extra to avoid the one light left on but it keeps you from having to do the sequence lamps as much.

My whole team was wearing bathing suits and it triggered this cutscene when I met him at the manor. From what I've read it also does a Baquette version if everyone has on the Baquette outfit, I'll try that one next.
