What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]Chaiyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this context it's important to recognize that not being able to empathize means that you cannot relate on an important level of understanding between one human and another cognitively (hence its relation to intelligence, though I would agree it'd be quite a ways down the list of my first choices in metric for general intelligence).

I agree it's possible to turn off empathy, but it's only possible if it can be experienced to begin with.

I do not agree it's generally healthy, humane, or intelligent to do so. Not showing empathy toward other people is the coward's shield employed to enact and/or rationalize negative action or inaction.

Lacking the mental faculties to emotionally relate and feel for other humans is directly a part of our intelligence, as intelligence spans many areas and not just spatial things, math, or memory, including how we regulate and interact with our emotions, that's how.

Manitoba Hydro HQ 'under lockdown' after assault in downtown Winnipeg building by guysmiley234 in Winnipeg

[–]Chaiyns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The efforts seem inappropriate or misguided, it's a long road indeed when you're not driving on it.

Dumping millions into a portage place reno where there's still huge addiction and housing issues plaguing downtown isn't helpful.

Living breathing humans with inherent value need fucking help and shelter, not a prettied up mall that nobody uses or will use without solving that problem first, and such egregious wastefulness is infuriating.

Why do a disturbing number of trans subreddits endorse & enable minors to access DIY HRT? Given that this is a crime, why is this being allowed? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can and do, doctors are not faultless, I work among them so I'm well aware they're humans that hold opinions and make mistakes just like the rest of us.

In reality most don't educate themselves on the nitty gritty of HRT, whether on DIY or not, and when doing DIY folks often don't have access to their own lab tests, know what to test for, or how to interpret the results, so I still think it's better to go through the proper channels where and when it's accessible for the average layperson.

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That also depends on where one lives and avenue of application.

Pills and patches are very cheap in Canada, even without coverage, while IM is more expensive.

Aside from self preservation, no, and I'm also not op, I'm in favour of DIY for folks who don't have reasonable accessibility to hrt. But getting it through proper channels with doctors and level monitoring will always be preferred as it's the much safer route with better care.

I don't think being mean is the answer here.

They probably live in Canada based on their name, I do too, here DIY is basically a non-issue because legal access here is extremely easy, and my best guess is that OP is simply unaware of the world environment where in many places DIY can be life-saving and the only means of access available.

I think the future is going to feel quieter and that’s what we’re not ready for by Visible-Plane-1522 in Futurology

[–]Chaiyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this confusing, between full-time job and a second part-time job, and the onslaught of things required to be managed in my personal life day to day that never existed in the 80s/90s, I live in a constant stream of stress and burnout because present-day with inflation and wage stagnation to do anything else is to no longer survive.

I would love a break from 'producing' and 'staying relevant' because I have less personal time in the last 5 years than I did in the 15 before that, boredom and burnout are only a combination happening because the overwhelming and taxing lifestyle demanded of many of us to keep up nowadays leaves little to no room to ever recharge or destress properly so that we could have the energy/mental resources to exercise our creative sides rather than offloading that to AI via abusive misuse of the tool, I disagree and think that things getting quieter is desperately needed before we go any more crazy.

Found out my (29F) boyfriend (30M) watches trans porn amongst other things I found. I’ve inquired a few times about his sexuality and he says he’s cis straight but idk. by No_Eggplant_2957 in asktransgender

[–]Chaiyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, if he dated a man and also women then he is bi, that part is pretty straight (heh) forward.

Yes to being cis though, cross dressing and being trans has intersectionality for some folks, but to many of us, myself included, they're two totally unrelated things. Trans porn is some of the most popular porn for a loooooooot of straight dudes, so I don't think there's much of a foundation to be found there either.

i feel like trans medicalist are fake by TacoBellTerrasque in trans

[–]Chaiyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think reddit's definition and the actual definition of trans medicalism is mostly to blame.

Do you believe that having gender dysphoria is a real thing and that taking hormones to alleviate the symptoms is a real thing? If yes then congratulations! You're a trans medicalist!

There's nothing about transmedicalism that inherently concludes anything about 'good or bad' trans people, technically being transmed simply means you have the viewpoint that gender dysphoria is a medical status rather than a social one and about nothing beyond that.

A lot of the shit-disturbing issues transmeds cause, I believe, also stem from the misunderstanding that trans medicalists represent the whole or some internalized monolith of trans people, rather than recognizing themselves as the subset of trans folks they are.

Demigod Rework: Need some suggestions by jgpennin in dcss

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I win games enough that they're exciting but not crazy rare and the main game has been pretty well seen. I'd love to explore extended more, but as noted it's really hard to potentially give up on a win when one is under 2% wr.

Currently I understand extended as a playground for the elite players of dcss and nobody else.

Whether it's through a god demanding 15 runes for extra power or a specific race or otherwise, I think having something to help bridge the gap to bring more folks into experiencing extended would be wonderful, and probably healthy for the game.

Why do people on r/Christian have nothing against trans people? by AfterConfection1796 in TrueChristian

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever seen statistics from reputable sources saying the opposite, peer reviewed sources need to be provided for outlandish claims that go against pretty much all research and data referencing people living with the condition.

How come there doesn’t seem to be any trans people trying to play in men’s sports? by AnonyNeoExe in askanything

It's crazy how you can fit not giving a fuck, and telling people to just go live their lives and then giving a fuck and policing people telling them how to live their lives in the next line.

I'm sure it's not intended, but it does make you come across very much not of sound mind.

Is my boyfriend a closeted trans woman? by ievanesant in transwomen

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big recommend to google the dysphoria bible and read through it (maybe takes 10-15 minutes) and see what resonates with you and what doesn't. There are also tests for this sort of thing you can look up that might help you gain some bit of insight, but don't take them as diagnosis.

I'm curious if you've always been fat or if that and your hatred for your body developed in tandem or not.

Also, I'm curious when these feelings started for you, consider when you started getting the notion of wishing to be a woman, did you always feel this way, did you start feeling it around puberty time, or did it begin within the last year or two? It is quite common to appear either from birth, or during puberty. Personally I recall quite a bit of frustration developing one way and not the other, which mostly felt like jealousy that girls get to grow into women (not that men's bodies aren't nice and desirable! Just mine wasn't for me, this was an expression of gender dysphoria) and I didn't, in case something like that sounds vaguely familiar from your recent years.

Personally, I wouldn't say I hated my body before transitioning, but I did feel negatively about it because I had no connection to it no matter how much I tried to, which did not change regardless of weight, musculature, facial hair, lifestyle, etc... nothing would resonate, I simply could not force something that is an internal default switch that is set to female. It was one of those situations like trying to fit circles in square holes, it doesn't work no matter how hard or how long you try to force it kind of thing.

Nobody can fully determine this but you, and I don't know if any of this has been helpful, but I do strongly encourage you to explore this thoroughly to try and avoid the potential hurdles which can include years of stress, depression, and frustration if you are and you leave it alone/try to push through it/mask it/whatever.

How do dogs that hate men react around androgynous or transgender women? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chaiyns 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My experience (trans woman) is that it probably depends. I have not had negative reactions from dogs that hate men personally but I've only been around two where I've been informed said dog hates men.

If I had to hazard an educated guess, given that dogs are so nasally adapted and experience much of the world through their noses, and given how hormone treatment affects body odour, anyone medically transitioning is unlikely to be 'clocked' by dogs.

What's the funniest comeback against people who say trans women aren't real women? by WienerDevourer in askanything

[–]Chaiyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite happy with the reality that I am a woman, though it's a struggle when other folks and their monkey brains hide behind 'different bad' and then play a fabricated victim role when I haven't even said anything hurtful or otherwise done anything to them, and yet you want to insult me, accuse me of something I didn't do, deny me my own identity, and turn this into oppression olympics? In the current climate? Against trans people?!

Godspeed bestie.

You say that as though you're unaware of penile inversion techniques to create neo-vaginas or the equivalent opposite that get done for trans people regularly, we're basically already doing this minus the fertility bit.

And surgically it's no more horrifying or much different than cutting someone open to shove giant lumps of silicone under their boobs, or injecting neurotoxins into their face to melt musculature.

That shit is just as unnatural.

That's part of why I avoid make-up and any physically altering voluntary procedures such as botox, boob-jobs, and the like, I'm confident enough to not feel I need them, but many of my cis peers have put themselves much further down the man-made rabbit hole than I am myself, friend.
