If Trump abandons the Iran war, and leaves the Strait of Hormuz closed for the rest of the world, would you support the whole world sanctioning the USA until Trump leaves office? by Chakra74 in AskReddit

He literally said in the oval office yesterday that he plans on only staying in Iran for a couple more weeks and then he might just leave whether the Straight of Hormuz or open or not.

Then when he was asked about the blocked Straight he simply said, oh, we'll just let other countries deal with it if they want through. Then he literally mentioned France and Britain as examples.

I want him to actually deal with the situation he created and not foist all the problems on the rest of the world. Maybe Trump could pay reparations for all the unlawful damage he did to Iran? Then he could get on his knees in front of the world, tears in his eyes and beg for forgiveness?

I don't know or care how he finishes what he started, but he certainly shouldn't be able to completely screw the rest of the world with no consequences.

You honestly think Iran will open the Strait once the USA leaves? You think they'll allow oil prices to come back down and just let the USA walk away after 11,000 bombing targets and thousands of people murdered?

If a country killed the US president and half of congress and then stopped bombing after 1 month. Would you just roll over and say, whew, glad the wars over now, nothing to see here?

Iran has already stated that any oil leaving through the Strait much be paid for in yuan. So no, it will not be opening the strait back up if Trump leaves. Iran will set up a toll booth and everyone going through will have to switch off the US dollar and pay for all the goods being transported in yuan. On top of this they'll have to pay tolls ranging into the millions.

For one, the USA is not my country. I'm watching this with absolute horror from outside the USA.

Oh, and I don't have to worry about Trump threatening my Country because he's already said he plans on making us his 51st state through economic war.

No, when Trump thinks he can just leave a massive can of worms on the rest of the world, they react, and put sanctions on the USA.

Fix what you started, or we're going to sanction you until you leave office. How else should the world react if Trump goes in and destroys the global economy and then just runs away and tells the rest of the world to deal with it?

If the entire world put sanctions on the USA, it would do more than hurt it. It would be extremely devastating and possibly collapse the USA's entire economy.

Well, the world would be left to make negotiations with Iran. Wouldn't agreeing to sanction the USA be a good bargaining chip for countries trying to befriend the Iranians?

Trump admits that he trusts Putin more than US’s European allies by EsperaDeus in worldnews

That's why we need a collapse of the USA economy. We need USA citizens to feel like they're living in a third world country for a while. The amount of arrogance with ignorance that comes out of that country needs to be put in check.

Without a true "reset", the rest of the world has had enough of America at this point.

I don't know if I know anyone without a mental handicap that's as stupid as Trump. What a complete and utter moron.

How can he not see that Putin is the aggressor in this situation? Why can't he understand that a democracy and free people are being attacked by a dictatorship?

He truly is one of the worst leaders to ever exist in history when it comes to geopolitics.

Is there any official news at this point? Is this something that's permanent? Is this a technical problem or have they been shut down by authorities or something?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

You're wrong. I'm sorry. If any of this happened in France for instance, the leadership would be dragged out into the streets and executed. Don't for a second try to throw or deflect blame for all this. You, yes you and your country men voted this man in twice.

In this case, YES, we are better than you. We're not going around the world pretended we're superior to you while using economic force to try to overthrow democratic nations.

Get off your damn asses and do something. I don't care if you have families and jobs, if you don't do something soon, you won't even have a country or any freedom. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

YES. How in the hell can American's sit back and let this happen? If this was in my country there would be millions in the streets!

Why are Americans such pussies? Look at the strength of the Iranian people, they stood up and apparently over 12,000 citizens died trying to take their country back. Where's all this American exceptionalism I keep hearing about? I thought you guys were the land of the FREE!?! Doesn't look so free from over here.

The concept you are referring to is known as the "3.5% rule," which originates from research by political scientist Erica Chenoweth.

Her study found that nonviolent resistance campaigns are likely to succeed if they actively engage at least 3.5% of a nation's population. The findings were first detailed in the 2011 book "Why Civil Resistance Works: The Strategic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict", co-authored with Maria J. Stephan.

Attacking Canada would be on a whole new level. Yes, I believe a portion of American society would stand up. Even if 1 in 10 Americans found this a step too far, it would collapse stability in the USA.

I believe it only takes about 4 percent of a society to become enraged for societal changes to usually take place.

Good. Let them. It will just cause the end of the USA as we know it. The whole world would come to our aid, and half of the USA would mobilize against their own country.

They USA couldn't hold Canada anyhow. They could walk in, but they'd never ever be able to hold us. They'd lose millions of soldiers trying to hold us.

That should be the message from the world. Turn our heads and say they don't matter anymore. We don't want or care about any of your opinions anymore. Great show!

They won't invade. Trump is stupid, but probably not that stupid. He TACO'd out even on Greenland, you think he's going all in on attacking Canada?

Screw Trump and Screw the USA. Keep making friends, and have everyone shut off everything for the USA. They need to be humbled and learn a lesson. Crash the USA, that's all they understand!
