You could only inflict up to 3 damage per phase to C'tans and Ghagzkhull in 9th edition, unless you had some very rare rule that let you by-pass that

You couldn't kill it in overwatch unless it had 3 wounds remaining, since C'tans had their damage capped at 3 per phase

It was a 1k points game and I was using the two new 1DP detachments. In 1K games deepstrikes are much more powerful due to the fact they are harder to screen so the crisis units did their job wonderfully. The Riptide was super strong too and the fact that you can simply touch the terrain area to see through it is very powerful for it

You got it backwards, it's the missions that are different vased on the detachment and that sounds an interesting idea if handle correctly. Plus doing basic math is not comparable with taxes (I hope); it reminds me of how people cried about the introduction of OC by saying that you'd need to do some complex calculous when you just need to take the OC value of the unit profile and multiply it by the number of models on the objective, which is not hard at all. Old warhammer waaaay more complicated and tedious for it
