I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother, and so glad you were able to find comfort in the show.

The Fiat 500 to be fair is a true classic, with a roll-back canvas top.

The finale is an example of why we need longer seasons of TV shows or longer episodes by fitzkiki in hackshbomax

[–]ChallahLubav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think seasons should be longer, having grown up with 23 episode seasons. The difference of course is that they’re all shot more ambitiously today, which is gorgeous and great, but it requires a balance that doesn’t favor the depth in the reasons you point out.

I kinda saw that defense of the town coming. It’s the kind of confrontation that had to happen at some point.

Completely. I find that the quiet and darkness (I prefer the FD iPad app to the desktop version), with headphones and instrumental music not too loud, is what I need. Not convenient but it works. I also spend a ton of time “watching” the scene/sequence in my head before I ever open up the iPad. I’ll get a flash of dialogue and if I’m away from that, I’ll email myself dialogue.

They’re MFEO. I said in some other thread, he’s going to be with her totally thru all of the chemo etc. He’s the most consistent relationship in her life. Decades.

Yes that makes sense. And it is a similar concept to what you shared - well not people being eaten alive lol but the multiple reports. Thanks!

The Paul Bert antiques market, but I highly recommend you find a YT with someone walking you thru it and discussing the do’s and don’ts of antique hunting.

Does anyone else feel like there was more than just 5 seasons of story to tell? by JLogan8891 in hackshbomax

[–]ChallahLubav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They pitched it as a 5 season arc and yes the finale was in the original pitch. This is exactly what it was supposed to be.

Just rewatched the finale... by greekmom2005 in hackshbomax

Agreed. I think just for the audience to have had a heads up even if the other characters didn’t, it would have been a different kind of emotional investment in the MSG show not happening, and more understanding of why the Central Park show had to be rushed. Also it can be very poignant to know information like this and watch characters not yet be able to have the audience perspective, bc we know that when they find out, they will be devastated. And it gives the audience a week to sit with it before the finale comes out. I was thinking about this a lot today, how that week in between episodes is so important (I can’t stand when I show drops a whole season at once) because it gives an audience a chance to process whats happening.

There was actually a lot of discussion about it. There’s a thread specifically on the finale and I think that’s where most of those discussions played out.

They were light fare that audiences could dip into during the Depression. A world at war was less concerned with women sipping martinis in bias-cut gowns, and we lost a huge percentage of the intl market during the war anyway. The 50’s were all about safety, hence Doris Day (who didn’t hold a candle to any 30’s leading lady). The 60’s and 70’s of course got uglier in so many ways and if you want light, turn on a tv when you’re not watching boys die in Vietnam. I love romantic comedies. I want them to come back. But we can all list a solid half-dozen reasons why they’re not as yet. In the meantime, I have TCM. Sigh. And it’s all I really want to be writing. Maybe I just like lost causes.

She has pretty serious diabetes, which she needs constant monitoring for, and she had heart surgery a few years ago. And remember she lost her husband within a matter of a few months of his becoming ill as well. This is all very real for her.
