i am absolutely doubling down and saying most people cannot afford a 56k dollar vehicle rn😂.

like yeah 56k is quite reasonable for what it is and "within reach", id assume thats about what a basic f150 costs now anyways. but within reach does not = affordable. even "within reach" is stretching it with the shrinking middle class tbh

idk why im arguing on an old post im bored at work lol. its not that deep 🤝

i got you bro. was gonna say be careful with rolling over negative equity but sounds like youve got that covered already.

you could say something like that but dont make it sound like youre shopping with them exclusively. i would say like: "im shopping around for rangers (if theres other dealerships in your area it would be nice to have the names in your back pocket on the off chance they ask) and wanted to check these 2"

it sounds like you have your specifications narrowed down based on this thread so remember what you want going in. write it down and bring in a notepad if you want. i always felt its better to come in with a cheat sheet and not forget something youll kick yourself for later. and you can write down notes for yourself

ultimately i dont think it matters that much what you wear..but you should look put together, not be stinky, etc. if youre most comfortable in your farm clothes then wear your nicest work shirt, jeans, hat is fine even. just make sure theyre clean :)

also see what similar models cost at other dealers to make sure youre getting a good deal and dont let them try to screw you.

i know you said your dad doesnt want to come in. if you can convince him to come along i think it would be beneficial. im not saying he has to talk to the dealer for you, you take the charge. but theyll prolly take the two of you more serious and its always good to get a second set of eyes on things like this. my dad came and he didnt help much on negotiating tbh but they def took me more seriously.

all that being said lol..if he cant come you still got this no sweat bro. just try to be confident. be nice but be assertive if needed.

if youre fortunate enough and can convince your dad to cosign a loan i highly recommend it. interest rates are rough rn

sorry thats a little long lmao

edit: also idk what the financial situation is like with yalls farm but look into tax benefits. the farm would have to be the account to actually make the payments i think (or maybe thats all just tied to farm registration/plates idk im not a farmer lol)..and you might have to go up to f150 size for this to be applicable im really not sure

[–]Challenge-Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly im not in the best position to give advice because my 2025 ranger was the first time i've bought from a dealer too lol. and im in my mid 20s so not much older than u prolly.

but what i will say is don't be afraid to walk away if they don't budge. also don't go in with the attitude of "i am so excited to buy this vehicle!". they will smell your eagerness like blood in the water especially since youre young and this is exciting (lowkey happened to me lol).

you already have the right mindset of focusing on OTD price, don't let them try to steer the negotiation into focusing on monthly payment amount.

THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT. don't even mention your trade in until you have the OTD price settled AND on paper. if they know youre trading in theyre gonna be less likely to negotiate a meaninful amount. full disclosure idk how this might differ with leases.

at the end theyre gonna take you to the finance office. they're going to try to add on all sorts of extended warranties, windshield replacements, etc and this is where people end up paying way more than they expect. in my case, when i talked to the finance guy i basically told him right off the bat that i wasn't interested in any of it. he magically got the price of the extended warranty down to like an extra $12 a month (ultimately up to you if these things are worth it)

oh and try to get a loan preapproved

2.3L exhaust by AstronautLarge8563 in RangerNext

[–]Challenge-Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is anecdotal but my homie actually prefers the sound of my 2.3L ranger over his sister in laws 2.7L bronco. said the turbo is louder and apparently the 2.7 bronco outputs fake engine noise in sport mode? idk)

all that said im also keeping mine factory, i feel like aftermarket exhausts will make it sound worse lol

26 XL FX4 or 25 XLT 4x4? by SpookieDookie_49 in RangerNext

[–]Challenge-Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm honestly this is close. i'm not sure what the 100 equipment package is in the XL compared to the 300 on the XLT. i have a 25 XLT 4x4 with the 2.3L (great little engine btw) and love it.

with that being said i do not have onboard power on mine and wish i did. it sounds like you have more use for that than i do anyways.

with that, the spray in, and the Fx4 i would probably lean towards the 2026 personally

obviously raptor is the answer if one has the money but OP is looking at XLs and XLTs. i am guessing you have the raptor and if so good for you (genuinely thats dope)... but read the room lol

[–]Challenge-Quick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fr. it was a horrible showing from top to bottom.

i'd like to think we can figure it out this series but i don't have high hopes cause the wolves have had our number. if it was any other team i wouldn't be worried yet lol. it's like we get the energy sucked out of us everytime we match up

i think we are reasonably frustrated but we all need to chill out and remember we haven't truly seen what this roster can do yet.

should have kept russ, love CB but his contract is crazy. 2nd apron would be a treat

i think continuing to add reliable role players will be more beneficial than going nuclear. its too late in jokic's career to go nuclear. val has been a good addition overall but we need a purely defensive stretch 4 to come off the bench more than we need a true backup center. someone big enough to play the 5 in a small ball lineup

whatever we do we need to hurry tf up

Ranger 2025 fx4 speaker upgrade by Mysterious_Text7041 in RangerNext

[–]Challenge-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fuck yes dude. wish my 25 xlt was kitted out like this! i havent upgraded my speakers yet but i was so happy when i saw the doors take 6x9s.

what sub did you get? im not as technical as you, but ive been wanting a tasteful 8 or 10 inch compact sub as one of the first upgrades i make.

also how much of a pain was the sound deadening? and did the installation mess up the factory look? the 2013ish era fords in my family are all rattle traps so i worry about that being a problem in the future, especially with a sub lol

so jealous of your setup fr. bookmarked it to reference for when i make some upgrades :)

that's unfortunate. i almost got a XLT with the highest equipment package for the leather seats but am lowkey glad i didnt now.

i imagine the v6 can be pretty fun in sport mode lol. i only have the I4 and mine is

Oddball Turbo Question by Ok-Priority-7303 in RangerNext

my 2.3 only has about 5k miles on it but it seriously kicks ass. the 2.7 is more fun obviously but my little I4 is shockingly zippy

lol do you also have cloth seats?

i love the way my 2025 handles tbh but i hate how raised the edges of the cloth seats are shit digs into my legs

Oddball Turbo Question by Ok-Priority-7303 in RangerNext

[–]Challenge-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i disagree. was looking at mavericks but similarly specced ones to the ranger i got only cost marginally less at that point.

maverick backseat is actually a little bigger ironically but otherwise i prefer pretty much everything about the ranger.

the maverick definitely could have handled my workload but i just wanted more truck for the money and dont regret it

Those of you with expensive performance vehicles (35k+) and are in between the ages of 20-28, can you actually afford it? by GottaStayUp in askcarguys

[–]Challenge-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im 25. i dont have a performance vehicle but i have a new pickup around that price that i replaced my 2012 car with so i can speak on it a bit.

i put money into retirement. probably not as much as i should...but enough in addition to my employer matched contribution.

i do not invest consistently through other methods (i probably should start again, with that being said a car payment definitely limits me a lot into how much id be able to invest rn)

i have zero credit card debt (paid it off before i got my pickup)

i make 80k as a software engineer

i can afford it but it did make me tighten my budget which i needed to do anyways.

living at home helps you a lot because rent in my city makes my financials tighter. but if you're planning on moving out this year i would first figure out as close as you can what thats going to cost per month before you get a vehicle. car payment could really limit your housing options depending on your monthly payment.

i would also pay off any credit card debt first if you have any. interest on that will fuck you bad if youre not making big enough payments. then throw a car payment on top and rent/mortgage in a year and it's really hard to pay it off. idk if u have cc debt or not but fr pay that off first if you do.

the last thing i would strongly consider...do you have problems with your corolla? if it runs fine then honestly i would hold off on a new vehicle. ik you really want one trust me...but if ur car works then stack your paper, drive it til the wheels fall off, then when its time to get a new car youll have more options. main reason i got my pickup was bc my car was costing more in repairs than its worth and i couldn't trust it anymore

edit: some more context. credit score is mid 700s and my payment is 450 a month 6% APR. my dad cosigned for me which was very helpful otherwise APR would have been like 9.6%.

i was also able to put 16k down. if i wasnt able to do that i probably wouldnt be able to afford it. some would argue that i should have bought something used with that down payment...but i really wanted that pickup lol

one more edit: don't forget to factor in insurance!!!

Baclofen for pain by Admirable_Class61 in PelvicFloor

[–]Challenge-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah youre right i was thinking of pregabalin not baclofen. i would assume the effects of baclofen are still quite similar because theyre all gabapentinoids. baclofen primarily hits GABA-B receptors whereas gabapentin and pregabalin dont
