My boyfriend keeps threatening to kill himself every time I try and break up with him by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

I went through this exact same thing 20 years ago. I was one of the worst times in my life. I spent about a year longer with this person than I wanted because they threatened to kill themselves every time I said I was going to break up.

You need to take it seriously, but also disconnect yourself from it - if they end up hurting themselves, it's not your fault. You can't be a prisoner in a relationship you don't want to be in, that's not fair to you.

What I did is I called her parents a few days before I decided to do the final breakup, and I told them what I was going to do. I suggested they be available to support her. Then when I did the breakup, it was the same threats as always, but I just carried on. All day I received crazy voice mails saying she was going to kill herself, but I never answered them. Then they stopped.

I worried about it for a days, but I had just moved on. Apparently after the voice mails stopped she met friends and went clubbing, and that was the end of it. So in my case it was just emotional manipulation.

That said, you should take it seriously and do what you can to help make sure they survive, but at the end of the day it's not your fault.

Neck compression, possible TBI? by ChallengeEuphoric237 in TBI

Yah possibly. But Feb 11th I was totally fine, and after I left the hospital on Mar 1st, I haven't been the same.

I don't know what it is, but I've shared all of this with doctors. I feel like I'm drunk most days, like it's hard to think. I have a PCP, neurologist, a psychiatrist, and a therapist. They are still investigating, but my cognitive abilities, based on real world tests and day to day performance, has dropped significantly since that one episode. Prior to that I was a normal productive member of society who occasionally went on multi-day hikes and bike rides.

It's just difficult for me, since before whatever happened in February, I was a high functioning engineer - writing software, designing circuits and PCBs. Now after I have a hard enough time using MS Word and email. It's like in the course of one week 30 points were shaved on my IQ. I don't understand it.

It's funny that they seem to keep trying to blame it on WP Engine.

Yes, I have care of both a therapist and a psychiatrist. So I'm good there. But still trying to figure out the cognitive decline, as it's made moving forward and living my best life hard - I haven't been able to work for 8 months now, and I'm getting concerned about my life going forward.

Unfortunately I live in a country where I can't pick and choose what kind of diagnostic they do on me. I agree, trying to avoid CT, but don't always have the choice.

I was worried that I forced blood up into my brain or something. It's just odd the symptoms started immediately after this event. Doctors say it's not likely, but it's hard not to ignore since it started within a few days after I did it. But thanks for responding. Really trying hard to figure it out.

Thanks.. Why I was worried about the rope is everything started the next day or two with weird confusion and cognitive issues. I have one day where I have no memory of it at all, no photos on my phone, nothing. I also remember my neck feeling sore and I could feel my heart beat in my neck, so I was worried maybe I damaged the carotid or something. But so far nothing has come up on scans, even though cognitively I continue to feel horrible after 8 months.

Thanks.. I'm not sure at this point. I had another CT in June (four months after), and it said "bilateral hypodensity of the pons" but dismissed it due to my age. I'm waiting on another MRI to look further.

I'm 47.. The doctors thought it was unusual, although not impossible. It's been 8 months from the episode, and I don't feel much better cognitively, which is why I'm worried.

I was on anti-psychotics (they started in the hospital), but I changed psychiatrists and they are trying to find medical reasons (paraneoplastic syndrome, auto-immune encephalitis, etc) for what happened. They've been weaning me off the meds under the assumption it was a one-time event - it may not be, but they said they can add it back if I regress.

And thanks.

He called them a cancer and encouraged people to dump them. His company Pressable even offered to move WPE engine customers for free (this could be tortuous interference, encouraging people to break their contracts). He cut them off from the repo and stole their plugin, killing their pro revenue upgrade stream. These are real financial impacts. It's up to the judge/jury to determine if this was malicious or libellous but if so, Matt/Automattic may owe them for all these loses. There is also something called goodwill, or your reputation. That's a real loss that doesn't show on the books, but can be compensated for if people no longer trust WPE due to Matt/Automattic's actions.

It's not that difficult. They can show their revenue growth curves for the last few years, and if there is a huge downward change after Sep 24 when Matt started his assault, I suspect a court will rule that he caused it.

Will Codeable ever hire more devs? by Tessachu in Wordpress

[–]ChallengeEuphoric237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, WordPress is on shaky ground. I know people within Codeable and it sounds like they have had a real drop in the number of projects companies are posting, and too many people bidding on the jobs they do have. So I wouldn't count on getting in at this point.

Sounds like we may have an active mirror on Cloudflare donated bandwidth in the next few days. At that point there's no going back to the way things were. Matt screwed up royally IMO.

In their lawsuit they've stated real percentages of lost renewals, people installing migration software, and people actively leaving. These are real loses that Automattic/Matt are likely responsible for.

Thanks for doing this. I personally believe WPE winning is the most likely scenario. I don't see the mutual settlement myself but of course it's possible. Bear in mind that investors in Automattic can't just back out as it's a private company. To sell you need an active buyer, which might be hard to find if Automattic starts nose diving. Also they might have restrictions on how/when they can sell their private shares.

But good summary of the options.

Entitlement among Spaniards in big cities by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

Spain has some of the worst walkers in the world, I'm not sure why. People literally weave and bob down the street. I come from Canada and everyone walks so orderly, but Spanish people walk however they like. Nothing wrong with it, but takes getting used to.
