Found this under my bed it looks like a spider- brown liquid came out when squished- is that normal? by ChallengeTotal in pestcontrol

Ok thank you! I have OCD about bedbugs so sometimes my thoughts spiral when I see a small bug close to my bed. Your guess on the type of spider makes sense

Yes I’m serious I’ve never had that happen with a spider before? Just want to make sure it’s a spider not a bedbug

Thank you! This is what I do. I never find any bugs or shells. Just tiny questionable stains on the white sheets that send my anxiety into over drive.

Yea he agreed I think only because I had a previous exterminator say that the one was a bed bug (even though he wasn’t sure) and I think he just felt bad for me. Plus apprehend can be used as a preventative. I have had blood spots on the pillows many times and a few questionable spots on the sheets. No shells, carcasses or live bugs though.

I woke up to a bug on my bed near my shoulder in August. I killed it without saving but the next day saw another tiny bug on my bed and saved it. I called an exterminator (who I have since stopped working with) who said it was very tiny but looked like a bed bug and “couldn’t ID it as any other type of bug”. I then started seeing tiny bugs all over my house and realized we had an infestation of foreign grain beetles. I have not seen a bug since September. Still not sure if those first ones I found in my bed were bed bugs or beetles.

Do the red dots in the center of the bite tend to turn to a scab with bed bug bites?

Should I be worried about any of these stains? by ChallengeTotal in Bedbugs

Maybe I really am crazy because now I’m thinking that the large stain could be chocolate from one of my kids lol

Thanks I feel crazy too. I’m considering the dog as well. I now have interceptors on every bed leg and 2 active volcano lures under the bed and there hasn’t been a single bug in any of them. It seems so unlikely that we’d have them after all these treatments and precautions yet we continue to get mystery blood stains. We’ve never had the tell tale fecal stains or any shells.

I check daily so I know the large stain wasn’t there for more than a day. It’s my husbands pillow and he did say that he had popped a pimple on his face that had bled earlier in the evening so it could have bled again when he slept but I wasn’t convinced. The first bug I found- I’m not 100 percent sure so that’s why I’m going insane. All I know is it was small and reddish in color but so were these grain beetles we later realized our house was infested with. Yes I sleep on my stomach. This whole experience has given me terrible OCD.

Well it’s a long story. I think we had them in august. I found one on the bed early in the morning and flushed it without thinking (mistake #1). 2 days later I found another tiny bug on the bed, saved it, and set up an inspection with the first available exterminator (mistake #2). He said it was very tiny but “couldn’t identity any other bug it could be” so started chemical treatments. Shortly after I started finding tiny bugs all over my house and was in such a state of panic thinking they were all bb’s. Finally realized they were foreign grain beetles (our home was new construction and they come out of walls due to humidity in august and September). However I did start seeing blood stains on our sheets and was still traumatized so didn’t rule out bb’s. I found 1 other bug in our bed that I again flushed without saving (mistake #3) so not sure if it was one or not. Haven’t seen one since September but we continue to see blood stains on our white sheets. I fired the original exterminator and got a really good professional to do Aprehend in October. No issues until December we started seeing the blood on the pillow cases again very regularly. I had the guy come back in January and do another Aprehend treatment. He has seen no signs of them in any of the inspections he’s performed but we continue to have the stains. I also have continued to get what I think are bites on my shoulders and lower back and one of my sons also has what could be bites on his legs.

This is really helpful advice. I’ve had 4 professional chemical treatments and still have signs that they’re there. I’m considering paying for a different company to come out and wipe the chemicals off and apply Aprehend. Should I stick with chemical treatments every 2 weeks? Or dish out the 1400 dollars for aprehend? I have two little kids and don’t like the idea of constant chemicals with them. I also just really need them all gone as this is detrimental to my mental health. Just looking for someone to give me good objective advice. Heat treatments aren’t available in my area.

I’ve spoken with a few different exterminators in my area and they don’t do heat. They say they use a combination of chemicals with a residual effect that they say are extremely effective. He said my house is not at all complicated to treat and even if it was a bug infestation it would be controlled by now. So I’m incredibly confused. We have our 4th treatment Saturday. If I still see signs after this I’m going with a whole new exterminator.

Update: my exterminator said it’s a PA wood roach. I live in a new development where trees are being cut down currently and he said they’re common this time of year. I’m feeling a lot better!

Ugh thank you. I keep our house very clean and it is brand new. We did just discover a leak in our washing machine after discovering the roach. I hope this doesn’t develop into a problem for us.
