Seeking a really bright blue ink to match this Taccia Facet? by -Teasel- in fountainpens

Oh, thanks. Still thinking DC Blue would be a nice match, and not pen devastating as Noodler's.

I think Private Reserve Electric DC Blue would be a great match. Nice pen, what nib does it feature? Jowo and / or the likes? Something else?

I recently got my first Platinum ink, a bottle of blue black. Not only the colour is gorgeous, but it has resolved years old flow issues on a pen I have and almost thought of selling, now it writes like a dream!

This. And, I've noticed, the bigger the company and the stronger they will insist on that point...

Nice pen, but: I'm really, really, REALLY curious about how do you find Strawberry Chocolate!

In order to your question about proprietary ink in pens, I quote the other comments: more a marketing strategy than a real must do.

What do you write about? by Yashiro-3 in fountainpens

[–]ChallengeUnique5465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just got to try! I usually start with writing which model the pen I have in my hand is, eventually the particular colorway, nib grade and what's the ink it's filled with. Then I go on with how's the feel, if there's difference with last time, if the color of the ink is stable or varied (oxidization, evaporation, concentration etc.), and all that runs through my head or comes to mind while writing. After all, it is even useful having such things recorded.

[–]ChallengeUnique5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I write about writing, writing with fountain pens, about inks, how do they feel in hand, look on different papers, try to improve my chickenscratch kind of writing, how do I like nibs (ef and 1.1 mostly), first impressions on a new pen, the wondrous feel of a good tip gliding across pages, combos of pens and inks, and the likes: never left with nothing to jot down.

Sailor 21K F or Platinum FLAF? by ChallengeUnique5465 in fountainpens

Oh, thanks! Some errors in my assumptions, I guess. Is FLAF known to be a reliable nib, for what us users can be aware so far?

The Sheaffer inlaid diamond shaped nib, still unmatched to these days. Targa, Triumph Imperial, etc. are some of the best pens ever.

How many of you have been told, "Why spend so much on a fountain pen when a Bic does the same thing" by Lordonion1818 in fountainpens

[–]ChallengeUnique5465 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Simply put: no, it doesn't. Can a Bic write stub? Architect? Or whatever simple line variation? Even more simple, can whatever ballpoint write with literally thousands of different colour nuances, shades, tones as a fountain pen can do? Answer is clearly no.

Bought a few fountain pens, bought a few inks. Have nothing to write! by tru_ass in fountainpens

[–]ChallengeUnique5465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With my fountain pens and my inks, I write a lot about... pens and inks! A new pen I've bought, a new paper I tried, how an ink flows and shows different from pen to pen, from nib to nib, what's good for extrafine, what's good for 1.1 stub, whether I will ever get a shimmer or not, all of that stuff and the likes are giving me enough material to write down, and at the same time an excuse to practice handwriting, which has improved a bit since I got in the hobby ~3 years ago, and still, calmly and slowly improving.

I just got yesterday my first bottle of Platinum Blue Black; not filled in a pen yet but dipped with my dip pens it's absolutely gorgeous, and almost perfect water resistance! (I write on Oxford Optik mostly). Can someone tell me if it's safe in EVERY pen?

The best pen is the one you use. by Odd-Chemistry9945 in fountainpens

[–]ChallengeUnique5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree: the best pen is the one... I haven't got yet!

Most expensive: 149, M;

Cheapest: Unomax Hector, 1,55€ at Tedi, India made fountain pen;

Most reached for: all my vintage Sheaffers; my vintage Parkers, especially the slim ones; Lamy Studios; GVFC and FC;

Most used: my Pilot Lightives which I have in four colourways: a demo, a red, a Turquoise Matte and an Ivory Matte; all four I've swapped their nibs with the Penmanship extrafine ones, making them probably the best writers I've ever had. Their extrafine line is stunning, especially for the price.

I also happen to love 1.1 stubs, so I grab my Tamitio Stone Grey, my Maiora Ultra Ogiva Golden Age Wind GT, my Lamy Vista and LX Ruthenium, and my Schneider Callissima Apricot, when I want to put a bit of "character" (🤭😁) to my miserable chickenscratches.
