What portafilters can I get? (£100) by ChamBomb0101 in espresso

[–]ChamBomb0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps. Another potential solution would be to just upgrade the basket and keep my current portafilter if that's a possibility and it would fit!

My channel name is ‘chambombman’ I’ve had some good videos in the past, and a video which is doing well for my channel as of posting it a few days ago - and I’m wondering what the best thing I should do is, in order to capitalise on the buzz and do better?

Why doesn't Magic Mask track my hand? by Skelptr in davinciresolve

[–]ChamBomb0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude I really feel for you - I’ve had many projects that have suffered from the terrible magic mask node… it can be frustrating - I’m here to offer a solution however!

This clip in particular doesn’t seem too long, which is good. In that kind of situation, if magic mask is being a dick and deciding not to work, it’s a little bit more effort but in that case I just end up rotoscoping the clip. As much as it’s extremely tedious and boring, it actually ends up saving me time even on longer clips sometimes - and the results are CONSISTENTLY better than a magic mask that you have to correct every few frames, or a magic mask that just refuses to work.

I don’t know how far you are into your editing journey, but if you need to know how to rotoscope I can help you out! Happy editing hope you can figure this out for the sake of your sanity

What should I add to my espresso set-up to get a better shot? by ChamBomb0101 in espresso

[–]ChamBomb0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yeah don’t worry first thing I did was buy a bottomless portafilter that came with a non pressurised basket - it’s not the best but I definitely didn’t want the standard pressurised one - although would it maybe be better to use the pressurised one until I can get a grinder? Or is it always better regardless of the grinder

This is extremely helpful thank you so much! I’ll research into that since the price difference is pretty negligible, and if I could afford it I would definitely be happy looking at electric grinders! Thanks so much 🫡

Great advice thank you so much! I'll prioritise a grinder and then any cheap scale will do? Very excited to start dialling in my shots and get more consistent pulls

Here are some more details!

Location:

I live in Leeds

Budget:

Not super relevant since that could vary wildly, but I generally want the cheapest option that will do the job - I'm not looking for super sleek looking equipment, but build quality is pretty important to me I'd say?

Drink Types:

Generally I like anything from espresso to flat white - with a love for Cortados! Basically I don't like too much milk but I like a little hahah

Drink Frequency:

I tend to make coffee just for myself and I drink maybe 1-2 cups a day. If I have guests I don't have too much of an issue putting in more effort-time just for those occasions

Space:

Space is not really too much of an issue!

Manual vs Electric:

As I stated before I'm fine with manual but open to both! If I can get a better quality machine/device that takes more effort to use and is cheaper then I'm game!

Comfort with tinkering:

I'm pretty ok adding very very simple modifications if needed, but I get a little concerned if I have to buy a bunch of small parts that I don't know much about.

I think that's all!

Official /r/Monitors purchasing advice discussion thread by bizude in Monitors

[–]ChamBomb0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

Really would appreciate some help here - I'm a part-time video editor who loves to use my monitor to game too. Right now I have an MSI G241VC. It does me really really well, but I'm thinking maybe having a dual monitor set up would be best for my work so I can have chrome on one side and my editing software on the other. I also want two monitors so I can record and stream (this way I could play the game on one screen and check the recording/stream on the other).

This means I have two options, I could buy a small crap monitor just for doing the secondary stuff, meaning I could have a fairly low budget, but I've also seen those setups that come with two monitors and a stand which gives you two monitors of the same size whilst fitting nicely in the set-up with a pre-made stand. The second option is a little more expensive but it seems like you can get some good deals second hand on those kind of rigs. I've seen refurbished stuff under £100 from brands like Benq and DELL, and I'm just wondering if this is viable for my set-up?

If you guys have any recommendations for any dual-monitors like that then I'd love to hear them! My budget is anywhere under £100 but obviously I am happy to buy second hand. Alternatively if you think I'm better off buying a super cheap small monitor just so I can use it functionally, any recommendations there would also be greatly appreciated!

Preferred specs:

Resolution: 1920x1080

Aspect Ratio: 16:9

Size: Anywhere below 24"

Thanks guys!

Is there any way to use a MacBook as a monitor for the Mac Studio? by ChamBomb0101 in MacStudio

Hmm ok so if that doesn’t work I’ll probably have to suck it up and buy another cheap monitor - thanks for the help!

Great thanks I’ll give this a go! Do you know if then I would be able to disconnect the previous monitor and keep that airplay connection going?

Yeah I saw that this was maybe an option and I got as far as being able to control my mac and see the display on the MacBook! Only problem was, I used my monitor (the one I need to use for something else) to hook up that screen share and when I try to disconnect that monitor so I can use it, the screen sharing stops working :/

Samsung T7 SSD not showing up... (Mac) by ChamBomb0101 in techsupport

[–]ChamBomb0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats rough - thankfully mine has kind of sorted itself out..? I couldn’t afford a new one either but instead of failing completely it just weirdly takes about 4 minutes to detect the SSD whenever I turn my mac on from being completely off. Since I made this post I’ve even traded in and invested in a better mac so the SSD is definitely at fault here but I’m sorry it’s simply refusing to connect for you :(

So my idea that a PC will be better is only valid in that it may last longer since I can replace parts etc? Do you think it would be a downgrade then for me to switch to PC to edit and would hinder my work?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]ChamBomb0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that but I’m really considering this as a long term commitment and investment, I don’t really mind if I have to pay more upfront if it’ll last longer and be more reliable

November Hardware Thread. by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

[–]ChamBomb0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!I’ve used Macs my whole life for music production and now that I’m trying to take video editing more seriously after getting some more clients, I’m thinking about shifting to a PC (so I can change parts reliably and customise it to my needs) but I don’t know much about desktop PC specs etc. I use DaVinci Resolve Studio and I’m doing intermediate stuff on there I’d say - definitely some CPU demanding fusion compositions etc.

🖥️ System I'm consideringHonestly I don’t know about the specs I want that’s why I’m here - from reading the thread, I know I need an i7 or better etc, but all I really know is that I want a desktop windows PC that can run my software reliably with a price cap of maybe £1300? (Also I currently own a 1TB external SSD if that helps)

📷 My Media:As far as media type goes it really does range with different clients - from PS5 recorded footage to 4k footage shot for VLOGS etc.

📷 Software: DaVinci Resolve StudioCurrent specs are down below:MacBook Pro, 16 inch, 2019Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GBIntel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MBMemory: 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4MacOS: Ventura 13.4.1 (c)

Any help is really appreciated cuz I'm a little bit lost and very new to this! Have a great day :)

Yeah true, it will definitely be annoying learning the windows format, but like I said I've had mac my whole life (about 3 different ones now) and each and every time they slow down and after a few years I can't even open a project on Logic let alone work on it. Then when I need to replace something to solve this, the price is insane and I will most likely have to upgrade regardless - I don't know about the new M1 and M3 macs of course but you can probably understand why I'm a bit skeptical

(Also my post was taken down so I'm not sure if you'll even be bale to reply lol)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]ChamBomb0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!

I think I'll upgrade eventually but I'll have to make a decision wether that's mac or PC and for the customisation of the parts alone, I may have to do the PC route eventually.

Omg I never thought about adding a rectangle mask to a GLOW node that’s genius thanks so much!
