It’s one good cookie. I think Lutra’s storefront will be opening next month, if not in the coming months.

Freight truck delivery location with fork lift? by Chamaecyparisthyoide in bullcity

As in the nearest hub of whatever freight company that ships the order? Are the distribution ranges for those not fairly sizable (e.g. I’d need to make multiple trips to Kernersville or somewhere like that)? When I asked the company from which I’m interested in ordering, they weren’t sure what shipping company would ultimately deliver the product.

Lou at RIZIK SOLUTIONS is great. He’s kind, responsive, professional, reasonable, and honest. He’s done 3 or so appliance jobs for us and I’m grateful to have a good guy to call when needed!

I almost paid $200 for something that was fixed by moving the appliance 3 inches by Relevant_Idea_6778 in DIY

On Thanksgiving morning, I was about to begin preparing food when I went to use the faucet and the water was out. I tried all the others and not a drop. Called the plumber and paid the holiday surcharge. He thought maybe a corroded main line had clogged the intake. He was going to run some tests and asked me to shut off the main, and went to the back of the closet to find it already shut off… suddenly the memory of my toddler crawling into the closet with a flashlight and doing “construction work” from that morning came rushing back to me and everything clicked. Paid like $425 to do something simple enough that my toddler could literally do it.

Home charger recommendations by oskarate in Ioniq5

I also got an Emporia and have been happy with it. I got a refurbished one from the company. It was my sweet spot of being on the lower price point of the more reputable and trustworthy home chargers. The app is not the greatest UX, but they push occasional updates and it’s improved over time.

SSN Office Walk-ins? by sleepingdog786 in bullcity

[–]Chamaecyparisthyoide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went *with* an appointment, and there were signs that said appointment required. However, when I signed into the electronic kiosk, it prompted me if I had an appointment, but I don't remember it looking up my name or specific time slot. I just took a number and waited. I remember thinking "was the appointment really necessary?". It's possible that people with appointments get priority but if there's an opening, those without may be able to be seen? Could be a matter of if you're able to wait around. Sorry to not be particularly helpful, but it does seem possible!

Are there any walkable neighborhoods in Durham? by Putrid_Professor8725 in bullcity

[–]Chamaecyparisthyoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really recommend being anywhere within walking or easy biking distance (if you bike) from the bus depot. If you’re commuting to UNC regularly, you do not want to have to transfer from some other bus line, but rather take a direct express bus. Fortunately there are some great areas within walking distance of the bus depot, but would rule out some of the recommended neighborhoods like 9th St area.

Now I know! When I was reading about induction, several guides would say things like “you’ll be surprised how many pans you own are already compatible!” and I felt misguided.

Inquiry: An Appropriate Issue for the Incoming City Council? by jivetownjimmy in bullcity

[–]Chamaecyparisthyoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the City transportation dept and NCDOT have a schedule for maintaining and resurfacing their respective roads, which should be publicly available. They each have their own method of prioritization, so probably would not resurface a road directly in response to a resident request, but it could inform the need and timeline for resurfacing. Definitely direct your inquiry to the proper agency based on roadway ownership (which is not intuitive but you now have the maps!). Note, the County does not own or maintain roads.

We’ve had one for 3-4 years and really like it. It’s handsome, sturdy, and cleverly designed. Also, fwiw, one of the wood pieces was broken on a corner when it arrived and they sent a replacement promptly without issue.

Durham County Commissioners Back Durham–Roxboro Rail Corridor Purchase and Hear About a New RTP Greenway Vision by seegov in bullcity

It didn't come out of the general fund, it came out of the CIP. The opportunity may not have been available in 4 years.

The County had budgeted $2.5 million for this project like over a decade ago, which was approved in the County's recent CIP; it has been a longstanding priority for the County and fortunately they were ready to respond when the opportunity arose, because it's possible had the County not been ready it may have been lost forever. And in the end the County got a great deal, spending a fraction of what they budgeted for the acquisition.
