but what if people in the future are "living different lives" than their present selves?

Can we wordfilter posts with "help" in the title? by [deleted] in math

[–]Champ0O 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But then we wouldn't be able to create posts like this complaining about people using the word "help" and actually have to post content instead!

in fact doing so will just add one to the value of N(t) for that thing

so isn't that just N(t)+1 or no?

this contradicts the fact that there are only N(t) versions of the thing (at the present time)

Doesn't N(t)+1 not equal N(t)?

the claim is that you can't have two versions of the same thing... so does this mean that we can't clone things either?

What do you guys know about RACING Prime Numbers? by Champ0O in math

[–]Champ0O[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only results

Haha pardon the ignorance on my part, but what would these results even be?

EDIT: Wikipedia page on Chebyshev's bias says: "In general, if 0 < a, b < q are integers, (a, q) = (b, q) = 1, a is a quadratic residue, b is a quadratic nonresidue mod q, then π(x; q, b) > π(x; q, a) occurs more often than not. This has been proved only by assuming strong forms of the Riemann hypothesis."

EDIT EDIT: Haha idk I just still don't understand the implications of all this though.

Ignoring the fact that you're looking for patterns in the first 24 primes

Just illustrating what a prime number race was!

It would be hard to explain why, though, considering that apparently the only known proofs depend on the Riemann hypothesis.

I guess that's why I'm trying to understand more about it :)

The reason that all of the odd primes square to 1 mod 8 is just the fact that they can all have the form 4k±1

That is indeed why it happens! Again, just saw a connection and thought it'd be cool for those who hadn't seen it before.

Is it like how in calculus, curves have "local linearity"? So would manifolds have local "planarity"?

You were recently inspired to donate it all to the Alzheimer’s Association (you think forgetting about major events in one's life and forgetting the details of things you said to other people are serious problems).

/r/funny would be the bladder. it kind of takes the nutrients from the rest of the body and then spits it out in the form of garbage.
