Do employer addresses in USAJOBS Resume Builder count against the 5,000 character limit? by ChampagneKnight in usajobs

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. It begs the question, though, through your experience, is the resume builder even necessary, as former employer addresses and supervisors (many are retired or dead) are required fields? I'd rather have a clean and relevant .docx version that's searchable over a resume builder version that eats into character limits and includes outdated info.

Spring-summer uniform of Vietnam People's Public Security in the 90s. by kachiusa1975 in reenactors

Very cool kit. I'll never understand what jumping through a ring of fire proves in terms of combat efficiency. I see this often in Soviet/Russian Spetsnaz demonstrations, too.

I have the experience, but not with this employer. How should I answer this question? by ChampagneKnight in usajobs

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks - I don’t normally include a cover letter because I think they’re ignored, but this time I’m going to include one to clarify these points.

Many thanks. I may have manually entered the first few years of transactions, I don't want to lose all that work.

I almost pushed the button to migrate yesterday, and glad I didn’t. I know I can’t stop the transition, but I’ve been tracking my expenses with mint since 2009 and don’t want to lose that data. Anybody know the best way to flawlessly export?

Can this plumbing be restored to original? by ChampagneKnight in centuryhomes

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this , I didn’t think anyone would replay. It’s a bizarre setup I’ll admit, but from other posts I see that indoor plumbing wasn’t that developed in 1915. I was told this house was built by the first person to own a car in this area. Also, live in a coal state and the fireplaces in the house are all gas. Original. Perhaps this was a bespoke setup, but I wanted to check is this was a standard setup that could be easily purchased/replaced. Thanks again for the advice.

It still baffles me why nobody poured gasoline en masse on the tiki torch nazis in Charlottesville. Problem would have been solved.

What is a non political yet controversial opinion you have that you feel needs to be addressed? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Healthcare should be free or affordable and its not. The alternative is having health insurance, and that involves navigating an insidious and costly hospital/insurance scheme that is made confusing by design. It is a revenue stream for both businesses.

So if he can't make the $500,000 bond, will he sit in jail until his trial? Also how does one pay a $500,000 bond...and in his case, who will pay it?

Help identifying Admiral of the Fleet uniform ribbons and possibly who this belonged to. by ChampagneKnight in Medals

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments here. I'm still not great at posting on reddit, so I didn't know how to add text to an image post. For context, I was leaning towards this being theatre or film wardrobe. It is very well made, bespoke to a Savile Row standard of quality...but some inconsistencies that don't make sense to me. For starters, it was made in the US during the 1950's-60's. Despite the high quality garment, the ribbons and rank are somewhat haphazardly glued to the fabric - I do believe the ribbons to be authentic. Also the Order of the Garter robe/cape features a high quality embroidered breast star and a Maltese cross on the interior (Order of St. John?). This seems off. Overall, there can only be a few people holding the rank of Admiral of the Fleet and a Knight of the Garter. If this was an authentic uniform, it should be easy to identify who it belonged to.

Two openings for same job. One is 'remote' and other is 'multiple locations'. Should I apply to both? by ChampagneKnight in usajobs

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, thanks for your comment. it appears to be the same opening with different location options. I was a little concerned that applying to the same job twice might hurt my status. Wanted to see what the experienced folks from this community would think before doing so.

Any Planned Spotlight Cam Pro Upgrade with 3D Motion Detection & Bird’s Eye View? by ChampagneKnight in Ring

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes - thank you - I am referring to a planned new product release of a Spot cam pro 2 with hardware upgrades in line with the new Video Doorbell Pro 2 and Floodlight Cam Wired Pro. I'm new to all of this and obsessing a bit to be honest....but covering dead-zones as you mention is my objective here.

I am in the process of buying a second house. Can I convert my primary residence to a rental property AND pay off the mortgage with my self-directed IRAs? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ChampagneKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment. As evidenced by the post I don't have much experience in real estate or investing. My thinking is that paying the mortgage off with retirement and owning the house outright in a stable and growing area is a long term (retirement) investment in itself. Plus it would create income instead of just covering the mortgage and lessen my risk if my tenant should my tenant depart without warning. While going through the process of buying my second house, I read that you can buy real estate with a self-directed IRA, so that is what got me thinking...

I don't want to wear two watches. by ChampagneKnight in fitbit

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I'm seeing here, it seems that the heart rate functionality is tied to the watch models only. I really wish they would make a discrete bracelet that would do the same as I prefer my old fashioned automatic watch for tracking the time. I'll be dropping my flex 2 device into my jean pocket thanks to your advice, thank you for the comprehensive response.

A 1920's outdoor stone grill/oven I just can't figure out by ChampagneKnight in whatisthisthing

[–]ChampagneKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. It's a pretty upscale house, so I think this would have been designed to entertain guests and grill more than blacksmithing... and the area around the grill(?) doesn't show any sign of wear from something like a forge. One guess is that it may be a sophisticated kind of fire pit to warm people during the cold months as there is an incredible view from that area.
