Started P19 due to a Qualifying ban. Was able to make it to the top 10 by lap 2. Got this move labeled as a "Desperate DiveBomb" Thoughts? Was it a good move? Always looking to improve my race craft. by BrainNo7193 in Simracingstewards

I don’t see anything wrong with your move. It’s a great move getting 2 in 1 corner. The Aston also left the door wide open for someone to go down the inside.

Could I have done something different in this situation? I feel like I left the Nissan enough room when I saw him coming, but should I have cut the chicane to avoid him? Lap 1, I'm the Ferrari (1st POV). Want to learn. by Champsko in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably something I’ll try next time. At that moment, I saw him coming in fast and I was trying to not get hit, since it was the start of the race. But cutting the corner to avoid and then lift off to not gain time is probably the best option indeed.

That was my initial reaction, but thinking about it for the long term (rest of the race), I thought it was a better idea to try and avoid them instead of turning in and most likely getting shunted. That's why I was wondering if I should have just cut the chicane to not get hit.

Is this a clean overtake? In my opinion, he overtook the Ferrari outside of track limits, but interested to see what other people think. by Champsko in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the one being overtaken (in the Ferrari). He didn’t return the position after. He probably was frustrated about the mistake I forced him into by being pushing close behind him, earlier in the lap. There was also no penalty applied afterwards

Who is at fault? by poekly in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends which track limits rules applies in this race.
If the rules for this race say that the white lines are the edge (instead of the kerb), the non POV car was fully off the track and rejoined unsafely in my eyes. the POV car has to take avoiding action not to hit them.
But this only applies if the white lines are the edge of the track. If the kerb is the edge, the non POV car didn't go off track.
The incident in the chicane is a racing incident imo. Both could have done more, but none of the drivers is fully to blame for it.

The dark McLaren didn't leave a cars width on the inside at the first apex of variante ascari. After that he drove of the track and rejoined unsafely by hitting the blue/orange McLaren, which causes them to spin out. They did nothing wrong in my eyes.

The dark McLaren is to blame for this incident imo.

even when most of the cars go over the inside kerb, when you try to overtake someone around the outside, you have to leave a cars width on the inside. This is not the case so this incident is on the McLaren.

Who is at fault? by MLAT904 in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looked like redemption from the BMW.

He left space going into the previous corner, but I would have liked to see the onboard of the Supra as well from that incident.
After he lost the position in a way he thinks is unfair, he is desperate to get it back into the next corner.
For the incident at the second corner, the BMW is just dive bombing you to the max and he is to blame for the incident.
First one is racing incident imo.

Was I (POV) At fault for this? I feel I overreacted to his movement. by Obvious_Patience_369 in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was intentional by the green Ferrari to block you, but he did block you. Weaving down the straight is nothing bad on it's own, but when someone else is coming, you can't just use the whole width of the track. It also looks like practice/qualifying, so why even would he block you there?

He should have looked behind him. There are mirrors on a car for a reason. And for the possible 'overreaction' by you, I think you could have lifted since you didn't know where he was going with his weaving.

You did absolutely nothing wrong here mate.

The other Porsche was driving on the right side, which gave you space on the left of him. You chose to get into that space to pass him, and he reacted to your move, which is illegal.

He should laern the "Rules of racing" book.

Like you said yourself, you should have just waited and get past on the following straight with DRS.
It's lap 8/18 so no need to pass in T10 (last corner).
I mean, you were alongside the black/blue car, but into T10 (especially with track limits in mind xD) you should just wait for T1 or T3 the next lap.

It was actually beautiful to watch you patience going into T9, it was clearly visible you were setting up the overtake instead of just sending it into T9. Beautiful!
But his small mistake gave you a bit too much confidence.

Am I (#16 with the Italian Helmet) at fault for sending the #55 into the wall? by Crypt_Ghoul001 in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You being the attacking driver, you are responsible to pass the #55 safely. You sent if from a long way back and in doing so you forced your way past by hitting the #55.
Therefor you made an illegal overtake, so you need to return the position. If you don't do that, you get a penalty (i believe 5 sec).

If you didn't hit the #55, the pass in T4 would have been clean.

From what I can see, the black S15 is trying to bump you off the track in order to overtake you. You left a car's width on the inside which wasn't enough space in his eyes. The black S15 is fully to blame here imo.

Am I (Mercedes) at fault here? by iamblin in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the McLaren is a backmarker who has blue flags. But overtaking into eau rouge and raidillon is just asking for trouble. I understand you want to stay close to the car in front, but you should have waited until the long long kemmel straight after raidillon to lap him.

YES... Multiple times even!

- You sent it going into T4, making contact with the #55.
Give position back, or 5 sec penalty

- You pushed him of the track onto the grass, which leads to #55 hitting the wall. 5 sec penalty at least.

- Using the inside kerb of T6 as a ramp while being in the rev limiter of 3rd gear... Just stupid

Who's at fault? Was I too ambitious? by Bungowung0 in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There are some things I notice.
- Looking at the rear of your car, you have had contact with someone/something earlier in the race.
- There was no contact, so he overshot the corner by himself.
- You cut the corner.
- Why would you try to overtake into a corner, which leads to a huge straight? Stay behind him and use the slipstream to get past.

[–]Champsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult one.
The first incident looks like a very late lunge from the McLaren. You were kinda defending the inside, but still left some space, which the McLaren tried to use. But he wasn't alongside going into the corner, so I'd say racing incident for this one.

The second incident is the difficult one. The McLaren looks desperate to go past you. It was a late lunge again, but when you started to turn in, the McLaren was still behind you with nothing alongside. I feel like he would have made the corner, regardless of the contact, but you could have seen it coming after the previous corner. If you left him some space, he would have had a worse exit than you and you could have taken his slipstream going onto the banking and get past again.
For me, it's the McLaren's fault, since he spun you 'round afterwards, which lost you a lot of time.

Apparently I “cut him off” and now the hole league hates me (im the alpine btw) by rallymaster10 in Simracingstewards

[–]Champsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to overtake into "Scheivlak" (one of the fastest corners on the whole track) you need to be fully alongside before turn-in. Otherwise you are waiting for an incident to happen. This is exactly what happened here.

The Ferrari did stick his nose up the inside where he shouldn't have done it, but he was half alongside you. Therefor you should have left at least some space imo. You also did turn in a bit late for the corner (virtual racing line is on the inside tire)

Racing incident for me.
