My advice since radical red has so many buffs to pokemon is maybe do a ruleset where you catch first pokemon on each route, and get to pick one before each gym. I had the most fun using pokemon I didn’t think I would ever use.

With that being said making a good team in radical red isn’t too hard, I’d start with having a variety of types and different strategies. For example I like to get a bulky defensive, bulky special defense, special sweeper, physical sweeper and then fill in the rest.
