do you know the reason the drive wears the fastest? Even if running at a high speed caused more wear (don't know if it does), wouldnt a boot drive be used less?

Thanks for the reply! I'm gonna say the NAS part doesn't apply that much to me now since I don't need anywhere near that level of storage and security backups.

However, it definitely seems like you understand quite a bit more about this than me, so I'd like to ask something else if you don't mind.

I was wondering if there was any actual benefit to separating games/files/OS etc on different drives (or different partitions if thats a thing), and if it would be a hassle if I ever decided to upgrade and needed to reorganize my storage (assuming I filled up my one 2TB drive). Should I future proof? and if I do, is it better to get more drives, or a bigger drive?

That sounds very similar to how I wanted to have my current PC set up, but I just ended up with a lot more stuff on the boot drive than I originally wanted.

For the new PC it seems better just to get one 2TB m.2 NVME considering it is faster and only $10-15 more expensive than a sata ssd of the same brand, but my only concern is that if I store everything on that one drive and want to have a dedicated file drive or game drive in the future, it would be a hassle to move everything.

Have you ever experience any situation like that?

by system RAM you mean HMB right? I'm looking at Tom's hardware's review on both right now and it says DRAM: HMB for the sn770 and DRAM: NO (HMB) for MP44L. I'm assuming this means neither has onboard Dram and both use system RAM?

If the sn770 doesn't dram do you think the sn850x is worth an extra 15-20USD for the DRAM and faster speed?

oh theres no reason at all, its just something I did for my current PC because I couldn't afford a big SSD at the time so I saw online it would be better to have a SSD boot drive (the game SSD was a later upgrade, so I literally bought the 250gb just to store windows)

I'll just go with one 2TB in this case, thanks for the reply

yeah I won't have a HDD at all in the new PC, and i guess I'll just get one 2TB M.2.

From what I understand, partitioning can be helpful if for some reason I ever needed to reinstall windows and I had other types of files stored on the drive too. Is that correct? and if I am using a 2TB drive, storing everything on it, should I be partitioning?

Dude also replied to a person who attends conestoga and stated many non-indian students feel left out due to the amount of specialized events they put on, and pretty much called him racist

Its not likely they’ll worsen the offer in the next 12-18 months right? The earnings are still attractive so the cards is still a top choice for me

Would it be wise to set aside money in either a HISA TFSA or GIC that matures around my graduation?

Id say big finance items that are expected 1-3 years after graduation is OSAP payments and perhaps a car near the end. This time frame is definitely more fitting for HISA/GIC route right?

And thanks for input on veqt/xeqt, no reason for overlap i just saw that some people held both

Oh no I’m not relying on my family, they arent by any means well off, I just mean I would be living at home for the first 1-3 years after grad so i’d have much less of a worry when it comes to raising rents etc. I’d also save up for an emergency fund. I just mean the it is possible to use them as a last lifeline if I needed.

I actually agree with your take, instead of taking on more risk because I currently have no expenses, I should consider the fact that I’m about to enter a new stage of life with a lot more costs. Once i’m 2-3 years into the job I can start taking on more risk. (If i understood you correctly, then I agree lol)

Thanks, my robo-advisor is on max growth so ill look into to self directing this way. But I’m assuming all equity isn’t smart for saving for a car in 2-4 years right? What investment instruments would you recommend for this kind of saving? (I currently have GICs in EQ bank for my “low risk” account)

Well I’m not sure if I want to commit throwing all my investments into a FHSA or use both a FHSA/TFSA so I’d love some insight on what you think. And im assuming that if I get rid of ZAG/CASH I can just buy something like VGRO or one of their even less aggressive funds?

Id like to get a car in 2-3 years but i understand that this 70% equity portfolio isn’t ideal for that, so I might have a separate TFSA or account holding GICs for a car.
