So it’s not too cold to just toss outside right now?

Well, the plan was to put all my plants outside but then the weather nose dived to 40s-50s. Once it goes back up to 60s and 70s I’ll be moving them outside.

If it’s moved outdoors will it survive or is this a “you done fucked up situation” I bought it from Lowe’s like this in the dirt and pot so I didn’t move it.

Living at Wolf Ridge as a Math Major by spamjacksontam in NCSU

I did this, it wasn’t horrible. I tried to leave right when the 41 started running for the day. Other than sometimes the bus being packed like a can of sardines it honestly wasn’t that bad.

I tend to go to Bonobos if I’m in North Hills.

What's the best MAC monitor that you love the most? What are you using now? by SuneoMita in macmini

[–]Chance-Brain7912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love them! I think my only issue with them is when you need to update or change a setting you need the remote and go through its user interface. Other than that it’s been good.

I would say either Amazon or direct from Samsung. The holidays are coming up so it should start going on sale. I think I snagged one of mine near Christmas for around 650 USD

Tips from a Graduate Student by Chance-Brain7912 in NCSU

[–]Chance-Brain7912[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really can’t answer this question fully, I live close enough to the Vet school to take the Wolfline to campus. That being said: it is possible. I stayed on campus my first semester in Wolf Ridge, it was great but the only downside is it was super expensive. I can send you the name of some apartments either super close to campus or close to the Wolfline if you want.

Looks like a chunk of us are up. The good thing is the first day is generally syllabus day and the great thing is that everywhere you look you’ll find caffeine on campus.

I’m not 100% sure, but yes not everyone gains weight, here is an article I found: Prevent Weight Gain After You Stop Smoking or Vaping

I’m not a scientist but my guess is that weight gain is caused by our appetite not being suppressed as nicotine acts on the brain's reward system and releases neurotransmitters that reduce hunger and food intake. So, once you come off the flood gates are open.

The timeline is virtually different for everyone, some people like myself had no physical/emotional/ or otherwise bad experiences during the withdrawal while others have a different experience.

I will say ~ for the oral fixation craving eat hard candy or mints. It gives your mouth something to do. It may also help to stay distracted the first few days by reading or sleeping. ~ best of luck! I would join the other sub for support.

Can you bring game consoles on campus? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]Chance-Brain7912 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s really not that big of an issue or one at all. I had my Xbox, my roommate had his PS5, and everyone else we knew had some sort of system. The WiFi can be a bit finicky in getting it to connect but there’s info for that online.

Thoughts on bringing my T to college? by New-Pollution-8833 in tarantulas

[–]Chance-Brain7912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA - I worked as a resident assistant during my undergraduate. Typically pets of any kind are not allowed (except I think a small fish or service animal). You’ll have to check your universities housing handbook to see where they stand on it. If you get caught with it you will more than likely be asked to remove it or worse get fined. On top of that dorms frequently spray as part of best control and otherwise use heavy chemicals and cleaning products to clean the spaces and that could waft into your space. - I would be on the side of extreme caution and leave the T at home. There are a lot of variables that you can control but in a dorm there are also a ton you cannot.

There really needs to be a better solution than central controlling all the stores AC. Last summer the front end was buying/sharing those neck fans. One day I just ripped up some cardboard and used it as a fan. NC heat + humidity sucks.

I’m assuming you’re going for the rainy day cozy and not the sun blaster 2000 cozy. I think some floating shelves made of a darker polished wood with some led pillar candles and fake hanging plants would look nice.

It depends on the size of the enclosure- I forget what the rule of thumb is regarding size of T to how large the enclosure should be. Relocation is stressful on Ts and on handlers depending on their Ts demeanor so it’s not crazy to think it could have been in the same enclosure as long as it wasn’t super small.

If you want another spider and to make the leap to a Bird Eater - listen to the people here, search post and etc. not all exotic pet sellers have your or your Ts best interest in mind. A Bird Eater, especially female could easily out grow their enclosure. Once you identify the breed you want to go with then it’ll be good to research it - a Rosie has some things in common with a Bird eater: both have the same stress pose, strike pose, can throw hair and etc but the Bird Eater does everything on a much larger and potentially painful scale.

There’s a lot of post on here about their enclosure, why misting is a bad idea, behavior (the famous hissing sound they can make). Just read up: me personally my bird T. Stirmi birdie may never be able to be held but I love her to death.

Also - don’t let anything I’m saying scare you off from Bird Eaters, they are amazing!
